well, given that the ebay ad contains his full postcode and a picture
of his house, let's hope it's well locked up.

    Gnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnng
    £3500 already.
Oh I want one right enough. I must find a new house with extensive garaging
though and resolve the Sidecar Conundrum.
Still depending what it goes for I suppose someone might store it for me if
I let them insure and ride it ;o)

Given the sun just came out I would expect it to exceed 6k pretty smartly. A
    good 998 will *always* sell.

6K at least, probably nudging on £6500 by the time it ends as it
is in very nice condition and has the 50mm pipes and the odd bit
of carbon that would bump the price a bit.

There are a couple of points I noticed - it'll need a service,
the last once having been done nearly 5 years ago [1]; new tyres
as those ones are very square; replace the carbon clutch cover
with something more substantial [2]; refit the rearset risers so
that they're on the right way round and lift the pegs rather
    than lower them.

[1] in fact, if I was buying I personally wouldn't run it
until the belts had been checked/changed.
[2] because they crumple at a mere sneeze and you end up
with a few, if not all, of the clutch posts broken and
a rather large bill for a replacement clutch.

Nothing changes. One of the clutch posts broke on my '78 MHR because I
looked at it funny. So I stared at the one directly opposite until that
fell off too[1], & that's how it stayed 'til I sold it.

    [1] I don't s'pose it would've made much difference to the vibes, but I
    didn't want to risk it.

No, you're right. But there's not that much difference between
a very late 998 and a 998S anyway, except for the Ohlins front,
a few more horses and the price premium you'd pay.

Besides, if you were going for a 998S you might as well get
a Bostrom rep - the best one they ever did.

  18. Nope: if that was the case, the auction page would still be up. It's
    been pulled, for some reason.

Hmm. An auction I was bidding on was pulled by eBay today - it looks
like they're getting very sensitive to the 'for sale elsewhere' thing.
