Got a letter from big H in Slough saying from Jan 06 your local Honda dealer
is no more.(A little on the tardy side for letter sending) They are an ex
Honda dealer, they have the expired the mortal Honda dealer coil so don't go
    there anymore.

However your nearest dealer is Thunderroad only 35 miles away 70 round trip
so good luck and we might let you know if we get another one locally.
Thunderroad are gonna luv us lot aren't they. Wot didn't buy it from us and
you expect service? Now **** off.

How shit is that and has that happened to any of you guys. Looks like
Cardiff is now bereft of any bike shops apart from BMW. Thank god for that
    eh?

    Who cares?

I've not let a franchise dealer near any of my bikes since 1996, and I'm
    not going to start now.

10 years, and still not managed to get enough miles under the wheels for
the all important first service. That's terrible.

    Heh. ****.

FWIW, I generally do my own 'servicing'. (well, changing the oil and
    brake pads anyway).

Steve Robinson emerged from their own little world to say
If that happens it will be in another Ryland franchise. They already have a
BMW joint car/bike dealership, which is run very well.

I've not kept a bike long enough to need them doing for ages. VFR had
them done just before I bought it, so they're not due for a while yet.
    Probably sometime next year.

Isn't service work where they make a fair bit of their money?

Yes, within a few thousand miles of a pre-purchase service from a
    franchise dealer.

I think he's probably more concerned with warranty work.

But why do you think a dealer other than the one it was bought from
would be less willing to do said work? They still get paid for it, you
    know.

Because, if what I'm told is true, warranty work is paid at a
significantly lower hourly rate than the average punter pays from their
    own pocket.

All I can say is that I've never had problems getting warranty work
done at any other main dealer that I hadn't bought the bike from.
Whether they get paid the same I don't know, but it's a very rare
dealer that would turn good trade away.

Well BMW dealers are always happy to do warranty work. They got well
    paid for it.

Ace emerged from their own little world to say
As I've said up there: I know both of Pete's nearest Honda dealers. They
are very good. E.g. I bought a Yamaha from APS in Bristol. APS went bust.
S.Wales Superbikes were more than happy to service the bike, even providing
    a free loan bike.
