Has there been a spate of car stereo thefts in Manchester recently then?

I see what you're doing here.

I'm probably as Welsh as you are Spic.

But that's a different issue, 'cos I live in Wales so 'fellow
countrymen' is the correct terminology to use.

Three of my four grandparents were Spic, my parents both grew up over
there. I speak a little Spic, enough to get by but I'm not fluent. One
    day I'll retire there.

You're a Manc with Welsh pretentions.

My mother's side of the family are from Cardiff, so you definitely edge
it, but that's a long way from me just being a Manc with Welsh
pretentions. I've spent almost as much time living in Wales as I did
    living in Manchester.

    Me too.

I don't fit behind the sofa anything like as well as I used to, and I
was more afraid of meeting WC than anything they can dream up.

Let me get this straight: You're both arguing over who is the most
    inbred?

Fair point. But it reinforced all my deep seated beliefs about the place. I
am *so* not driving round the Brecons any time soon.

  12. <snort> Someone needs to write the WC and the sofa saga. I rather like
Torchwood: this latest one was a decent piece of horror, and the previous
one was excellent. Written by the Sapphire and Steel chap, that was.

  14. It's funny because I recognise a lot of the sets. Like there is little
lane over the common from where I live. Part of it was shot on that,
making sure the houses are out of camera :)

  15. It's getting better. I think it's maturing. I'm willing to watch it to
    find out.

Oh give over. It was a ludicrous piece of tosh. If they'd been actual wild
Welsh, you wouldn't have understood a word. And why the "every 10 years, we
harvest the incomers" bollocks? Then what? Ten years of thawing out frozen
feet for the barbecue? A sensible setup would be doing it low-key and
regular, dragging down the occasional new-age traveller on rambler, getting
fresh meat regularly and nobody wondering why the village was suddenly
empty[1]. And they wouldn't have to flit about the woods like Welsh
    Cannibal Ninjas.

Does anybody else think that Torchwood is trying to be a sci-fi version of
    "Angel"?

[1]I call this the "Delicatessen" approach.

It's Dr. Who whatever they call it. The sets may not quiver as much as the
dialogue, unlike the old days, but it's still damn good fun.
At least the fairy episode has stopped my youngest demanding money for
teeth, I'd call that a result.

    I've perservered with it[1].

My favourite episodes so far are the Cyberwoman one and last night's
    one.

[1] only cos I've Sky HD and Sky+ now and have been using the record
facility as much as possible. I wouldn't have bothered going out of my
    way to catch it otherwise.

That was my initial thought - it was bog standard Who with a few fucks
thrown in for good measure - but it has started to improve.
This weeks one was a genuinely good horror story and nothing to do with bad
    cgi aliens
