  4. I'd call Angel SF, but there you go. It's certainly genre. I think Torchwood
has slightly more X-Files overtones - but being a definite fan of it, it has
its own look and feel. And the season finale was a cracker.

Alison Hopkins banged the rocks together and they said :
    You are joking?

That huge monster? "I'll kill it with my excess of life!"

If they're harking back to the very early days of Dr Who, crap plot
lines, mixed with Blakes 7, they're just about there.

*Way* too derivative for my taste, and on reflection actually having the
lead character Harkness was utterly pointless (it could have been anyone
really). Also, having the Tardis turn up and him knowing what it is has
pretty much screwed his personal time line.

    Seems linear to me.

I'm not sure I can explain it cos I need to fold the screen ;) He
actually met the Tardis a long time in the future. They were chsing him
through time (or his bate, I forget which) and ended up in WWII where he
had come to from the future.

  10. Ah, I see the problem here. You're thinking of time as *linear*, you see.
Just think of it as a doughnut - ring, of course - and the whole thing is
    explained.

The timeline, from Harkness' POV is:

    1. He travels to WWII where he meets the Doctor and Rose (and tries to con
    them)
    2. He travels with them to the future where he is killed battling Daleks
    3. Rose brings him back to life
    4. Stuff happens
    5. He turns up running Torchwood in 2006

This is clearly the sequence as, several times in the series, he's made
reference to being brought back to life by "someone". I suppose the only
mystery is why he chose to retain a name he'd only been known by for a short
period when he was working as a con man?[1]

    Thanks, mine's the blue anorak.

[1] Unless you count the mystery of why all of the episodes of Torchwood
have been rubbish[2] and why most of them have plot holes a mile wide.
[2] Except for "Countycide", which I enjoyed.
