He's failing, then, because you still come over as dim as a Toc H lamp.

I found a monster spider in my lounge on Sunday morning. So I did the
decent thing[1], gathered it up and chucked it outside. Came home later
in the evening to find it was still there. Not moving. I felt bad. I
wonder if it was the cold.

[1] Rather than squishing it, or giving it the Dyson treatment.

It might be helpful to know that "Zeb" is a name given to children
born in Tennessee. (See "Americans" thread.)

You don't remember ToC H at all? The lamp part I had to guess, but in
    context was quite clear.

Not really, but it's a less used phrase than it was. Mind you, a lot will
depend on whether your forebears ever went through the blackout.

Bless UKRM. I've been wondering about the meaning of that song title for
    25 years.

I must admit I had no idea. It did clear it up quite nicely didn't it.
Not that I ever worried about it too much. By the time the Piper[1]
reached track 5 I was normally very relaxed and anticipating take off two
tracks later followed by a swift lowering of the volume before Sid
started wibbling on about his (stolen? borrowed?) bike.

Where else have I heard that piano line at the beginning after the boom
tish chimping? Has someone covered it recently-ish? It seems somehow more
    familiar than it should be.
