Only one more day until my house contract goes unconditional......I'll be
straight down the bike shop on Sat morning to put my name on one of the
shiny new black ZX10R's they tell me are turning up in early July......then
I'll be the dude with the grin that won't fit inside his helmet :-D

  3. Not that i am in the market for a HyperBike, but why did you chose the Kwaka
over the other 3?, and in particular over the Yamaha R1 which has won every
back to back test around the world when tested agaist the other 3 ?

www.motorcycle-usa.com had a different opinion all together. Interesting to
note, they are the only review I've seen so far that actually decided to put
them all on the same tyres for testing as well. "What ... the same tyres ..
that's just plain logical I say!"

They rated the Kwak the best for the road and for the track. I'm not going
to say that they're correct 100% or anything, but it does show a different
opinion. Credit where credit is due, and they had some bloody good test
    riders.

The other point is, I wouldn't buy an R1 if you fucken paid me. I don't care
how good they think it is, from reports I've heard from the states the donks
are in serious contention reliability/longevity wise. BZZZT ... they can
    have it!

If I was to buy any of the current litre bikes it would be the CBR1000RR or
the ZX10R (wait till 2005 and I'll be taking one). Like any bike, you just
need to get the suspension changed to suit your weight/riding style and wack
a steering damper on it. Sure, the rest come with one already, but what's a
few extra hundred since you've spent so much anyway.

I say go for it, I'd buy one now but I want to just wait n see how they all
go and get next years models with all the little bugs ironed out of it. That
would include a bike from any of the new 3, never buy *BRAND* new so to
    speak.

They have to fit the always-on fog-lights, purple neons, fake intercoolers
    and NISMO stickers.

  6. Does that mean people have already had success blowing up 04 R1's?
In which case, this really is 1998 all over again, when people were either
shredding R1 and ZX9 gearboxes, or punching holes in the scenery with
    up-till-then functioning bikes.

Back then, you could read all manner of shit about how this latest crop of
bikes all made so much power out of such pared-down engines that component
life and long-term reliability can't but be compromised...

....fast forward back to 2004, how many early R1's do you know that are
getting around with upwards of 80,000km on the clock?

If there have been mechanical failures, we can probably just conclude that
cashed-up fashion victims who have to be the first on their block to have
the new hyperbike tend not to be the best or the most clued-in riders, but
we knew that already, didn't we?

Also, "in serious contention" or "seriously contentious", which do you mean?
The former is a good thing, the latter less so...

My bad ... you know how it is. My typing, grammar and everything else
besides is at best somewhere akin to "scum bucket" status. I meant
"seriously contentious" in that yes, there are report of blown engines and
serious misgivings about reliability (well duh! with the blown engine you'de
    think so).

I just hope Kwaka hasn't gone too soft on the reliability, 'cause they're
quite known for their strong donks, both in reliability, longevity and
    power.

Well, unless I can convince the ppl who are buying my house to settle early,
I won't have the cash until 28/6. Last time I spoke to the bike shop, they
said the next shipment is due to hit the country in early July, so the
timing is perfect for me :)

As opposed to the extra-heavy-duty suspension and the 'Wide Load' sticker
you had fitted to yours eh? Tell me, just how much work really *is*
involved in maintaining a beer-gut that size?

I'll be going for a spin on one (as well as a Fireblade and an R1) in the
next couple of weeks in Brisvegas. Should be worth the drive :)

And www.motorcycle.com rated the CBR1000 the winner. Typical Hatz
sweeping statement that is factually incorrect.

Can't understand your rejection of the R1 on the basis you're using
Cam. Sure that's the real reason ? Not trying to justify an opinion
    perhaps ?

I'd buy the R1 not because I think I can ride well enough to find the
difference between any of the 4 in that regard they're identical to
me, but because I think it's the best looking.

  20. Current edition of AMCN has the Yamaha as the clear winner, and a large
proper test done on nearly EVERY on-sale 1000cc

Italian and other European web-sites and mags. have also picked the R1,she
has been on top for years now
R1 only last 40minutes after departure according to a Yamaha dealer, not sure
if they buy another after totalling it ?

Frankly anything [as per EEC] over 100HP on a small contact of rubber is
    insane,it would be like having a F1 powered sedan Esp.in speed-camera land
    like Australia

Each to its own,way to powerful [all 4] for the masses,i found a 600cc KTM
    was trying to murder me...
