I've spent all day at Weather School. Fascinating.

And I've been looking at the European forecast charts with an expert
    meteorologist.

    <howls with laughter>

    Y'all have a *great* time, y'hear?

They should consider themselves lucky it wasn't last week. I cycled
to work *twice* in -15. The -20 day I gave up and caught a tram.

I had an experience I never, in my wildest dreams, would have imagined
when I was cycling to work in sub-zero temperatures and snow and I
thought to myself "Christ, it's warm today", it being only -2!

  5. Jeesh, brrr.... looking forward to my usual jaunt over to CeBit at the start
of March, it has a habit of turning cold and snowing everytime I go !

Bonwick thought it was a good idea.

There's a lesson in that sentence, can you tell what it is?

Aye, it does that, snow not uncommon at the beginning of March, then
spring arrives with typical German punctualness. I might do CeBit
this year, see if there are any good toys about :)

Ask him in two weeks time when he's done it and had time to
    contemplate his missing fingertips.

Because there's a story in it, which means a fee. Same reason you do

Very hard to type with no fingers left. He'll have to dictate it.

"It was at this point that Captain Platy, realising he was holding us
back, left the tent. As he left, he said 'I am going for a beer; I may
    be some time'"

I don't give a flying **** if he finds someone willing to pay him to
write an article regarding the trip because if he writes anything
defamatory about me I'll sue the **** out of him and then go round and
    top his chickens.

Coincidentally, Snoo Wilson has a letter in the comments section today, too.
