  1. Playing around with the new toy (Garmin GPS) I find that I can download
    today's bimble. With speeds...

Potential "Oops" there then. I think I'll turn the tracking feature off
until JP tells me that it's not admissible evidence.

    JP?

I wouldn't worry too much - according to my Garmin, I recorded a max
    speed of 313mph on 19-09-2004.

Chances are your log will show lower speeds than your peak as displayed
on the Garmin as the Garmin log gives average for each sample.

What's disappointing (sort off) is that your real speed is so much lower
than the speed displayed on the bike's speedo; so when Champ and Mike go
on about 160, they're probably only doing a mere 146 or so

    So what's your high score?

Woo Hoo! 327mph in the Octavia Diesel chasing a Scooby on an

Oddly, everytime I've set the Wing's cruise control at 120kph dead,
the GPS reckons within 1-2 mph either way.

So I believe my 210kph on the way to the ShiteOldBol wasn't far off
    the mark.

Good job you weren't doing anything risky, like talking on the phone or
    lighting a cigarette.

Not he, but I do believe that the answer is not generally admissible
in a criminal court. (no way of proving the calibration etc).

HMC, on the other hand, generally allows anything to be brought up,
and both the aftermarket SatNavs and the onboard black box style
technology are of great interest to that particular court.

The speedo on the V-Strom shows 9 mph slower than the GPS at 90 mph.

didn't realise how quick until I looked at the GPS... your honour!

Aye, I've calibrated mine with two separate GPSs and get a 'real' max
speed about 8% lower than indicated.

it's a sign of either my mental instability or just indicative of this

Point of order, but it's not actually illegal, is it? I mean, it
wouldn't meet C&U regs if supplied like that from new, but is having a
badly reading speedo actually an offence?
