Should I be worried that a group of people are depicted standing in
front of a jet engine, that appears to be blowing their hair *backwards*?

    Just curious, like.

Thrust buckets are noticeable by their absence of deployment.

Being pedantic, one could point out that the fan was turning too
slowly to create much of a breeze anyway, so an ambient wind could
    cause the hair movement.

Having said that, I've noticed that high-bypass-ratio turbo fans
windmill backwards if there's enough wind from astern.

Against that, the sound effect was that of an engine winding up, so it
could be suggested that the engine was just starting, hence just
    spinning the fan forwards.

The final argument must surely be that the breeze was supposed to be
associated with the engine though, so overall: it's bollocks.

Well I'm certainly no expert, but some blurb on high-bpyass turbo fan
engines suggested that they achieved the trick more discretely using
    doors in the bypass ducts.

Is it possible to tell what type of engine it actually is from that
    footage anyway?

Still this is UKRM so it would be a shame to let the matter pass without
a bit of uninformed (certainly in my case) argument wouldn't it?

Yes, AIUI newer engines don't use those bloody great barn doors out the
    back. Eg as depicted here:

Being a tad more pedantic one could ask if .. "Well, as it's only a
fucking advert, is the engine turning and their hair blowing even
    meant to be connected?"
Maybe not, they might just have had their heads in the clouds ... ;)

It's quite simple, really. It's an advert. The producer says, we need
to show air blowing and the people looking at the engine, but make the
wind blow their hair back, 'cause blowing it forward makes their hair
look ugly. The people were shot on a soundstage, the engine is an
animation added later. The producer doesn't GAF about reality.

The people at the ad agency did a media studies degree, not an
    avionics engineering one.

There's just a light breeze blowing from behind the engine, turning the
fan slowly and ruffling their hair. It's also turning the wind turbines
    in the background.

BTW, did you notice the flying whale at the beginning. Do they really do
    that?
