Opinions on aftermarket screen

My missus has agreed to get me a screen for the zephyr as a fathers'
day gift. I would like something large enough to be useful, but not as
ugly as a 70's US highway patrol harley with 3 foot of perspex jammed
vertically on the front of the bike.

There doesn't appear to be a huge range of options available for
retro-styled bikes, with most screen companies opting for making
replacement screens for faired bikes rather than universal screens for
    bikes with round headlights.

The best ones I've been able to find are from National Cycles. The F16
Touring and F16 Sports screens are my favourites (though they have
plenty of other options). I'm leaning towards the touring one for the
extra 3" of height (and presumably additional wind deflection) it
    provides.

    This is the touring one...

    And here is the sports...

Has anyone ever seen one of these in person, or better yet, fitted/used
one? Does anyone have any other suggestions?

I put a screen on my old cruiser - not a huge one, mind, didn't want to
ruin the looks - and found the effects to be as follows:

    1) Slightly warmer in the cold
    2) Slightly dryer in the wet
    3) All previously unnoticable wind at low speeds was now deflected
directly at eye level, so above 20kmh the visor had to come down.

I ended up taking it off unless it was raining. So from my limited
experience I'd recommend you get something that's tall enough to get
    the windblast over your head.

Givi make screens as well, varying sizes. Trouble with trying out
screens for where you get hit by the wind is that you have to actually
have to fit screen and go for a ride to work it out. Givi screens have
an adjuster in them so you can lean them forward and backward to adjust
    where the air hits you.

I have an F15 sports screen which I used on the VS650K3. It's black, useful
in rain, and eases air pressure on your chest.
Have a look on the site, and if you're interested at around $75, post again.

I AM interested. It's not exactly the look I was after, but it may just
be more useful than the F16, and might just suit the shape of my bike a
little better. Is it the same tint as the one at
    http://www.nationalcycle.com/images/products/webimages/SPSUMN2520SV65099-_600.jpg
    ?

Where are you located? Will $75 get it to me here in Melbourne?

If you want, e-mail me off list... rodb_at_baconplanet.com

What, they mount Damien on the bars and he scares the rain away?

Oh, is he doing custom stuff these days? Cool. I got a copy
done by him several years ago which was very nicely made.

Another happy customer here. he made up a custom screen for my R65LS.

Does he do brackets and things for add-on screens?

  12. I had both for my R1100R, mostly used the sports and swapped to the touring
when the dog was onboard the tank so she could tuck in behind it. The
beauty of it was they use the same mounting brackets, so four screws and
less than 5 minutes to swap them over.

They arent a large screen but enough to take the prssure off your chest,
certainly better than the monster screen fitted by BMW.

Thanks for that! I found photos of the Powerbronze F5 and it seems
exactly what I'm after. Looks a little less "fighter plane" than the
    NationalCycle ones too...

I got my Powerbronze F5 yesterday (cool Fathers' day pressie!) and I
must say, it looks fantastic. This screen fits my Zeph like it's a
factory part. I was also amazed at how much difference it makes in
terms of wind deflection. Money well spent. Thanks for the great advice.
