    Excusez moi...

    http://FR.wikipedia.org/wiki/Supermotard

"Le Supermotard désigne une discipline sportive et les motocyclettes servant
    à la pratiquer."

Supermotard is both the sport and the bikes it requires.

    Etonant, pas vrai?

Okay, I have a copy of Moto et Motard in front of me and they very
specifically refer to testing supermotards - not supermotos.

And I've said before there's no such word as 'motard in French when
referring to the bike as they do not contract the word.

Yeah, it has clocks, a neutral light and the indicators even go "tick
    tock" but
what I mean is it's not all "in your face". You have to look down to
    see it.
Strangely enough it reminds me of my learner bikes - MZ, CB125T,
    RX100...

French citations are cooler, and I am struggling to become uberpedantic.

Seriously, the issue was what do frogs say.

Do you think I give a flying **** about 'accepted' usage, in English
or in French? Just because it's made it into Wikipedia (and let's face
it, it's easy enough for any plonker to add it there) doesn't make it
    right.

I don't even accept the OED as a definition of 'correct' usage, so why
you think an unmoderated[1] wiki would make any difference to my
    argument is beyond me ;-)

[1] In the sense of 'not rigourously checked and rechecked by a panel
    of expert linguists'.

yup - speedo, neutral indicator, and oil gauge (IIRC).
almost certainly because they vibrate loose and flop backwards every
    5-10 miles.

So, it is good if it appears in magazines, but not if it appears in
    Wikipedia?

Can you turn Ace into Des by changing one letter at a time?

    Sure:

    ACE - DCE - DEE - DES

    That do yer?

Yes but I was thinking of using English words and subtly hinting that Ace's
post was reminiscent of Mr. Coughlan's (expert linguist, faux froggie,
former nazi and currently posing as a rabbi.)

OK, why didn't you say so - try this:

    ACE - ARE - ART - AIT - AIR - AIN - DIN - DEN - DES

(Only uses one *Scottish* word - will that do?)
