Optimate question

Discussion in 'UK Motorcycles' started by Darren Robinson, Dec 21, 2003.

  1. Right. I've connected the Optimate charging lead to the battery, all
seems well. The bike has a Datatool Duo immobiliser, before I bugger
about with things is there anything I should know, do I just plug the
Optimate in to keep the battery happy, or do I need to de-activate the
immobiliser (which, on the face of it, sounds like a very silly
question, as it makes the immobiliser pointless, but I just want to
make absolutely certain I've got all bases covered)?

Now this is my point you see, you get a cheap plasticky 600 and you don't
have to worry about alarms and opti-bloody-mates :)

Hmmm... jealousy is terrible thing isn't it?

I have never had any issue with using an Optimate to maintain the
battery charge when there has been an alarm / immobiliser on the bike as
    well.

    Wot he said.

Check the electrolyte level if you leave it on for a few weeks.

  7. I'm not going to be leaving it that long, weather permitting, and
AFAIK the battery is the usual sealed-unit maintenance free type of
    thing. Ta for all help.
