I was thinking about that. Ten quid, you say?
Really? IME most conference calls seem to fall under one of two headings:
    1) Dull; 2) Deadly Dull.

Yep, at Lloyds.. Boots ones are about £35.

Mine frequently tend to involve guiding the inept away from certain
doom, which lends an element of frustration to the proceedings.. in
    person it'd be *much* easier.

Having said that my new sense of priorities[1], seems to be helping,
    quite a lot there.

[1] Like other people's problems no longer being *my* priority. :)

It's not that I don't fix things or whatever; I simply don't react to
    panicky management.

When I rode Andy's at Sedan last year it didn't seem that
uncomfortable, I must say, but nothing about it would have made me
want to switch from the gixxer. TBH I was a bit disappointed, but I
guess I'd just been built up to expect something a bit more hairy by
looking at the faces of Matt and TOG who'd been out on it before I
    did.

  8. Did someone mention gut-barging? Are we allowed full bike gear?
Just FYI, most of the XJR owners I know are big fat bastards.
    Including me.

You're thinking of the look on my face when returning from a ride on
the Blingmobile - my most terrifying experience on a motorbike. Even
more scary than being pillion on a CG125[1] behind Petrolcan. My
reaction to the 10R was much the same as yours. I like the 10R, but I
was expecting something rather more. Although I'm quite happy to accept
that I didn't really do very much with it. I was expecting some sort of
firebreathing monster and what I got was a fast, comfortable, very
capable bike, which is good but not quite what I expected. This was a
good thing as I couldn't have afforded to buy one anyway. I still
really like the 9R, the rear suspension on mine is fucked, but it's
still loads of fun. I'm looking forward to another trackday this year.

    Yes, I believe you're right.
Heh. As I think I said at the time, I very much enjoyed it. In a very
perverse, I'll control this fucking beast if it kills me, sort of a
    way.

    Oooer missus.

IIRC the original article described the physics of a moving motorcycle
chassis and how, when the rider was above a certain weight, the whole thing
would begin to work properly. I don't think suspension has moved that far
since the late seventies that it can cope efficiently with any weight of
rider in equal measure and I'm not sure it is even relevant in the context
of the article I'm trying to recall. Any physicists lurking?

I'm not actually worried about the performance. Only the physical
    size of the thing.

It doesn't feel as big as my old gixxer, yes there is more power and it does
come on in a rush but if I can ride one anyone can.

I'm just a little taller than you though. My GSXR was about right in
    terms of sized.

Looks like it'll be academic anyway as my budget isn't going to
    stretch to a 10R. I'll have 4 grand max, so a mint K2 GSXR or R1
    looks like the best plan.
