I keep almost getting round to getting another micro copter Question is: E-Flite blade MSR or Walkera 4-3 I already have a 3 Walker mosquito type thing on 2.4G and a couple of liPos, so I guess a BNF might be better value? Is there anything newer and suitable? Needs to be inside flying really. I've staggered through a walkera 4#3b and an esky shitheap. I've now got a trex-450, which is awesome but evidently not an indoor thing. The walkera stuff won't bind with non walkera Txs, which annoyed me since I got a Dx7, I can't consolidate stuff onto the one Tx. The blade MSR looks fun, and will seemingly work with an upgrade path to spectrum gear. I made the decision to buy one before I went on holiday but got veto'ed on a 'not our walls' issue. That's my 2c, I've not been flying very long or experienced many helis fwiw.
Not having much like finding a BNF one anyway. And since it looks like my LiPos might be screwed, it looks an evne choice. Longer and more than I have, I suspect Thanks. -- Catman MIB#14 SKoGA#6 TEAR#4 BOTAFOF#38 Apostle#21 COSOC#3 Tyger, Tyger Burning Bright (Remove rust to reply) 116 Giulietta 3.0l Sprint 1.7 GTV TS GT 3.2 V6 Triumph Sprint ST 1050: It's blue, see. www.cuore-sportivo.co.uk
Yeah, I meant the Walkera -- Catman MIB#14 SKoGA#6 TEAR#4 BOTAFOF#38 Apostle#21 COSOC#3 Tyger, Tyger Burning Bright (Remove rust to reply) 116 Giulietta 3.0l Sprint 1.7 GTV TS GT 3.2 V6 Triumph Sprint ST 1050: It's blue, see. www.cuore-sportivo.co.uk
Weird. I've just dug out my Hummingbird yesterday as I want to get back into RC helis. What's the preferred SIM today?

They don't do much more than hover and scare dogs. Fun for 10 minutes, then you're done unless you're happy trying to fly through one window (windless days) and back in through another, or navigate the stairs while being distracted by dogs and/or kids. They're not in the least bit aerobatic though. Always a better bet coz they're more controllable and more reactive. And better, but still very limited. You're pretty limited then as most of the "proper" micro heli's are too big for in th' house. Ok for in a sports hall and outside though.
Ahh, great, thanks. Suggestions? -- Catman MIB#14 SKoGA#6 TEAR#4 BOTAFOF#38 Apostle#21 COSOC#3 Tyger, Tyger Burning Bright (Remove rust to reply) 116 Giulietta 3.0l Sprint 1.7 GTV TS GT 3.2 V6 Triumph Sprint ST 1050: It's blue, see. www.cuore-sportivo.co.uk
For outside? Walkera 46G. For inside, 43G if you want proper control. The MSR (being fixed pitch) is less likely to damage anything in the house, or itself. Both the Walkera's are collective pitch, run FAR higher head speeds and are far less "bouncable" without digging into your wallet. For cheap (non co-ax) fun, the MSR is Ok if you know and accept its limits (totally non aerobatic), but if you have any designs on looping, rolling, stall turning, inverted flying, backwards flying, or any combination of that lot, the MSR will be a let down where the 4G3 will get you going. The 4G6 will allow you to try any manoeuvre you want and it won't be the heli stopping it being successful if you bury it. A fair amount more money mind.
http://www.buzzflyer.co.uk/Sub-Micro-RC-Helicopters/Walkera-46S/p-97-1597/ Like that? And the odds of me going from a co-ax to a collective are what, do you think? I'm not sure I have huge designs on that just yet, but your advice is much appreciated. -- Catman MIB#14 SKoGA#6 TEAR#4 BOTAFOF#38 Apostle#21 COSOC#3 Tyger, Tyger Burning Bright (Remove rust to reply) 116 Giulietta 3.0l Sprint 1.7 GTV TS GT 3.2 V6 Triumph Sprint ST 1050: It's blue, see. www.cuore-sportivo.co.uk
Well that's a "6S", not a 6G, but it'd be perfect for flying indoors IF the indoors are somewhat bigger than your average living room., Still not 3D capable - being fixed pitch - not that 3D will be on your agenda straight away. The 43G is collective pitch not fixed. If the collective range is limited (initially), not a problem, in fact it gives better height control and a snappier response to a height command. Problem is, it also gives a snappier response to a reduced height control and if they're too much negative pitch, you can happily drill the thing into the floor. If you can measuer the pitch, -1 degree is plenty enough to start with. When you feel the need to go up a notch (or few) I've still got a brand new T-Rex 450 carbon/ali set up sitting here doing **** all. Comes with everything including brand new 2.4Gh radio and a pretty ali box. All charging needs catered for including a balancer for if fucking expensive batteries are brought into the game. Current batt's are standard 20 quiders (2) That could leave me by exchanging 400 sov's for it.
The MSR is a lot of fun and doesn't cost a fortune, I've flown a friends and it's a fun indoor thing. I've also had a go with the Walkera collective pitch micro helis, and while they work, there's a lot of slop in the head (meaning they can be a bit imprecise) and they are *fast* so you need a BIG indoors to really make the best of them. However, for myself I have a T-Rex 500 and a T-Rex 600 (both electric), definitely *not* indoor! (And very expensive to crash). But very much aerobatic.
Right gotcha. I *think* the 4G3 is going to be a bit big (if I've finally worked it out) http://heli-torque.co.uk/helicopters/micro-helicopters/walkera-4g3.html Right, noted. Thanks again I might well get round to that. Yeah, great for doing aero's but not tough enough to withstand a "walling" or being snatched out of the air by a dog. It'd hurt a kid though, so there's an upside. I believe that to buy it in a shop, you'd be looking at substantially more money. Over 200 quid more IIRC.

I would like it, but oddly after 6 years living in our house, that we figured would take us 6 months to decorate, *I* quite fancy a decent kitchen, flooring, paint and so on as well. -- Catman MIB#14 SKoGA#6 TEAR#4 BOTAFOF#38 Apostle#21 COSOC#3 Tyger, Tyger Burning Bright (Remove rust to reply) 116 Giulietta 3.0l Sprint 1.7 GTV TS GT 3.2 V6 Triumph Sprint ST 1050: It's blue, see. www.cuore-sportivo.co.uk
