Are you still doing laptop repairs? Any chance of dropping me a line if
    you do?

That was one of the "problems" I was having. I had a friend of the boy-chic
do my windows, doors, soffits, barge boards, gutters and garage roof.
Everything was heading towards me getting him to do my kithen, but he fell
    at the last hurdle.

All the house jobs were done in good time and done well, but then he started
the garage roof and then stopped. After he'd removed the old roof, installed
new puitched rafters and boarded it up. Now it's open to the elements and I
said I wasn't going to let him leave it until it pissed down and soaked the
boards, so if he left it much longer, he'd be taking the boards off and
starting again. My garage is 38ft long, 9 foot wide opening to 1 ft wide for
8 ft, so it's not a little one and the cost would be hard for him to swallow
if he needed to re-board it.

He ended up re-boarding it twice (not including the first time) and taking
close to a year to complete. All because he'd undercharged me and hoped I'd
give up mithering him to finish the job. If he's told me he needed more
money, I'd have not been too reluctant to give him more, but the fucking
idiot never mentioned it until he'd finally finished.

I couldn't bear the thought of him leaving me in the shit with a half
finished kitchen, so I did it myself.
Oddly, my bloke hasn't spoken to the boy-chic since he finished my garage
    roof.
    It's the bathroom next:-(

Nah, all this kind of shit is pretty simple so long as you have a plan, work
methodically and if needed, have a book or two on hand to give a bit of
guidance. Anyway, when you get to Chile, you'll soon discover how easy it is
    in England :)

They're the professionals, so expect nothing less. As it happens, I expect
nothing at all from them. It's why I service my own bikes and the wife's
car. (My car thrives on neglect)

They probably didn't understand the concept of a floating floor.
    Fucking good thinking.
Just don't get the blokes who did Fred Dibnah's kitchen. They were utter
shite and expensive shite at that and Fred never stopped prattling on about
just how shite they were. Well not until he pegged it, that is.

Ooooh! You're so right on that one. The simplest things can be hard to
find and the materiels you can get are often lower quality despite having
    the exact same labels.
