From my recent experience, £400 will be such a miniscule percentage of
the total cost that it would hardly be noticed, surely!

Actually, what you need Catman is a Henseleit Rigid 3D. JFGI, you'll love
    it. Flies at around 233kph.

Have you got a simulator? If not, get one.

    About 8% total
It's not a big house, and we're not installing smallbone or anything. We
want to move out in a year or so.

Making it more easy to sell is the primary concern.

I think our hardware is 50% and labour is the rest. Total bill will be
    about 6k

  10. Blimey. Ours came in at about £12K. Mind you, that was with new
electrics, range cooker, sink, fridge/freezer and floor.

    (The Older Gentleman) gurgled happily,
sounding much like they were saying:
I gave up caring what the bill for our kitchen was at the point they
needed to dig the front garden up to replace the main water pipe from the
stopcock because the lead was so wafer-thin it started pissing water
everywhere as soon as it was disturbed...

Heh. We'll be doing ours next year, and I suspect it'll be closer to
TOG's figures than Catman's. We'll be including one of these
    http://www.falconappliances.co.uk/products/range-cooking/falcon-1092-deluxe.aspx
which I note are now closer to 4 grand than the 3 we paid for the one
we left in the UK (cos it was natural gas and we'll run it on propane
    here).
    That's not a kitchen, it's a cupboard.

It's exceedingly easy to exceed even TOG's figures. A big Trust Me on
    this.

We've gone for two built-in ovens, and they easily exceeded Champ's
    total figure.
We've just ordered 21 sq m. of floor tiles; that's for kitchen &
    utility.

One of them is a normal oven, the other one a compact sized oven, grill
& microwave combination. So it's like having a "normal" double-oven
but bigger, better and more versatile.

Do we *need* two ovens? Probably not. Will having two make things
    easier on occasions? Definitely.

Oh I do. We'll be wanting to go for simple, and a lot of the modern
features leave me cold - I mean, why the **** would I want
soft-closing drawers and other such shit wot I see on TV adverts?
Colour me not at all surprised.
Piqued my curiosity now, so just measured ours at 370*520, so just
under 20 sq m. All one room mind - we have a laundry and boiler room
in the basement. I've not really given it a lot of thought yet, but we
need more work surface than at present, but will try and avoid a full
roomfull of built-in units, if possible.

We used to use two loads of times. One for the roast, one for other
    stuff.
    Hmmm, that's a thought. I'd been assuming we'd keep a separate
microwave, but I see that some of the Falcon ranges have
"multi-function" ovens, which I guess may be like you describe.
    Separate grill is required, though.
    Ho yuss.

Huh? Isn't it perfectly normal to have a cooker with a large & a small
    oven.

Mate of mine has one, or at least something very similar. I can't see
the point. Not because it's not a (potentially good) oven, but the ovens
are all similar (not very big) size, IYSIMW.

Nicely made though, and would barely fit in our kitchen :)

More work surface area? You have plenty, just that it is not visible...
