OT, Again: Ping RC helicopteristi

  1. Dunno, where were you in mid august? I crashed into the back of TBC
    while we were on holiday, breaking my collarbone. That, plus the leg
    incident last year, led Spete to call me the above and I thought I'd
    use it for a while.

    Keep up the snipping work.

    Your way works, but the beef oven is at 180C, my way the yorkshire pan
    and oven are preheated to 220C which makes the yorkshire pud nice
    and crispy.

    There are many other cases where I might want two ovens at widely
    different temperatures, for example roast spuds are also nicer at more
    than the 160 - 180 which is best for meat.

    A second oven is also useful as a hot cupboard for keeping veggies,
    resting meat and plates etc warm. Handy for daft people like me who
    manage to mess up timings and not have everything ready to serve at
    the same time.

    Erm, that's precisely what we suggested. We just rest the beef first.
    I don't find that particular 'problem' but I do still like two ovens.
    Heh. Useful all round, OTW. I certainly wouldn't be without.

    Don't get me started on pub pies. I like a good pie[1] but have to
    check before ordering whether it is actually a pie or not.

    A puff pastry hat stuck on top of some nuclear-temperature stew is not
    a pie, ffs.

    I'm pretty certain that's not the same type of thing that I'm talking
    about.

    I've got a certificate for eating a DD Cow Pie somewhere. It was in a
    pub up in Shropshire somewhere - can't have been that far from that
    place, but it wasn't it. Is it a common theme in those parts?

    One reason might be, the pyrolytic liners seem to be much more common in
    single ovens: which might lead you down the road of two separate single
    ovens rather than a double one.

    Our main reason was that we wanted the "top oven" to be oven, grill
    *and* microwave, and there aren't many double ovens that have that.
    Certainly none from the supplier we used who got us all of the
    appliances at trade prices.

    We solved the problem by having a double oven (Siemens iQ300 in fact) and a
    separate microwave.

    That was the theory at least: the trouble is that you need a special
    microwave which isn't particularly deep to fit in a wall cabinet. And the
    kitchen designer has put the cooker hood bang in the middle of an RSJ so it
    can't vent. And the gas bloke put a gas pipe so the dishwasher won't fit.

    Which is why I'm still cooking on a camping stove.
