Our are Siemens too, link posted elsewhere in this sub-thread. As they
do make a compact oven/micro combi we thought we might as well have one.

We considered a steam oven too, but that was deemed a bit OTT, and we
didn't have room for four ovens (the steam oven would also then be
    above a standard oven)!
    Oops.(

Bedfordshire where we have to make allowances for people moving north
    from the recession hit capital.

TBH I thought that's what it actually was. Only these posts have
    enlightened me.

I can't think of anywhere in London that I've ever been in that was
promoting a "carvery" in the 12 odd years I've been living here now.

Then again, I don't eat in "Toby" places, or whatever they're called.

I did for a while, yeah, and even though I know it's two "l"s, I do
keep reading the first one as an "i".

We've got a Toby fairly close where we go if we're taking Jennifer and
the sprog for a Sunday lunch but otherwise there are a number of other
pubs serving better roast dinners without the hoards of children.

I look on small children in pubs as a form of pollution so they're
best kept to pubs that cater for them and where the customers expect
to have to make allowances for them.

Big bags of frozen ones in the 'Market. 6 mins in the oven before you pull
out the roast. Add gravy. Lovely.

Decent carverys (ies?) are few and far between IME. Unless you value
    quantity over quality.

Praps you misunderstand. They work at normal speed until the very last
bit, where the softening kicks in and slows the draw (and for doors too)
down so that they just ease shut. So you can nudge them shut with your
arse whilst holding something in two hands, happy that the thing will
close without slamming. Quickly and quietly.

    They fucking rock.

Yes yes yes, I nuderstand all that, but why the **** would you want to
do that? When I get something out of a drawer, I close it again. Then
it's closed. You're suggesting that I'd want to leave it open just so
as to get this dubious anal drawer-closing sensation.

    I think that's a bit wierd.

We went away once for a week to a hotel with fancy soft-closing toilet
seats. It does get a bit noisy for a while when you come home to
    non-soft-closing ones.

You're doing it all wrong. Since the beef has to rest for at least 15
minutes once it's cooked you just put the YP in the oven that you took the
    beef out of.

One thing that makes me very happy about our local pub is that they get
this right - proper steak and ale pie with shortcrust pastry and plenty of
    meat.

    Where is this local?

FWIW the Plume of Feathers just outside Harlow also does a proper pie.
Not a bad little pub, OTW.
