OT (again) Scart connections.

Discussion in 'UK Motorcycles' started by William Grainger, Apr 7, 2004.

  1. Anyone have any experience with Scart splitters?
Our TV only has one scart input, and the PS2 and
NTL boxes both have Scart outputs...

Maplins sell them, I think I paid about a tenner for a dual one.

Make sure you get one with gold-plated connectors. My mate tried to
save a few quid by getting a cheap one and gets ghost images floating
across the TV (from his VCR, IIRC).

    Hmmm, interesting. I don't use a scart-splitter, but I know I have at
least one really cheap crappy scart lead. Could this perhaps explain
the buzzing noise I get when watching stuff off the $ky box, I wonder?

Must swap leads around and see if there's a difference...

I used the cheap lead I got with my DVD player, for about 3 seconds.
Took it back [to Richer Sounds] and got it replaced [FOC] for a
    gold-plated one.

I cycled past Grainger's local Richer Sounds (Hills Road, Cambridge)
every day for three weeks or so before Christmas. And didn't give in
    to temptation. Amazing.

    Upgrading can do that :)

As others have said get a good one.
I've got a cheap shitty one that I bought from Dixons, cost less than £20
IIRC, five way effort (I need four scart connections into just one scart
    socket worse luck).
Like a wally I expected it to work, and it does up to a point... but
basically it's pants, so spend the extra dosh and buy a decent one, let me
know which one you get and if it's any good (i.e. be my guinea pig <g>).
Cheap ones do work but feck if they ain't a bit crap (works best if I just
have the one thing at a time plugged into it, even if the other three
devices are switched off!). FWIW the trouble only really started when I
    bought a PS/2 and an X-Box.

Argos do a good one that's cheap as well, 534/0370, it's fully wired for
RGB too. Search Google groups and you will find plenty of recommendations.

I parsed that as "Scat connections".
