    You're welcome to my crown.

As it happens, I did know which it was, but I suspect it's more down
to an interest in cooking, or rather your lack thereof, than anything
else. And even I can remember that the logo is orange, so I'd have got
    it from that anyway.

Personally I prefer seperates, if the freeview bit dies you have to add an
external anyway or scrap the whole telly.

A couple of months ago uk.tech.digital-tv had a clammour of people
complaining that one of the standards for EPG delivery was ended - a
freeview recorder with no EPG is just a paperweight.

A lot of all in one TVs were mentioned.

In a freeview recorder, the hard drive always has extra potential for
failure - its w-a-a-a-y easier to replace in a set top box than built into
    the TV.

  3. Thanks for that. Makes sense. We don't watch much TV, it's true.

Ah, but which Sony? There are huge differences between the different
models, and IMHO the picture quality of the bottom of the range one is
more like what I'd expect from an Alba than a Sony. I say that as
someone who buys TVs based on price rather than looking at how good it
is, but even so every time I see my sister's Sony I have the urge to
see if I can do anything with the settings to make it watchable.

I got a 46inch high end sony, it's quite incredible on top end pics, low end
it looks like any shit picture on a good tv - shit.

Source material is good, transmission is good, reception is good & final
picture showing is good, you will get a good picture, any of those fail, you
    wont.

Watch Hollyoaks at 6.30pm on C4. Watch it straight after at 7pm on E4.
The quality of the acting and script may not change but the quality of
the picture is palpable to all but the most visually impaired. And V.
