Well i did think winning a comp was a little OT
but thinking about it as it's Motorcycle related
I suppose I could have got away with it.

  8. Well as I predicted it, I think it only fair that you share half of
the next one. Let me know when it arrives.

Please email me this Saturday's winning lottery numbers. Address in headers
    is unmunged.

So, what's Donington like for spectators? I might quite fancy a trip, work
    permitting.

How early is early, and are the delays bad for bikes as well as cages? I will
take the NC30 as opposed to the cage, if the battery's sorted by the weekend.

First warm up session is 9.15am so I intend to get there well before,
from Oxford it's not to bad but I do expect to be delayed both
getting in and out, but that adds to the fun I expect.

Hmm, I would have said pretty poor! Inside of the old hairpin is best
    though.
    Gotta agree with this.

No it isn't. An "all you can drink and eat" box above the pits with a
view down to Redgate and tv monitors showing the race is best. Oh and
    paddock passes.

    I miss those days.

OK, so I should have said the inside of the old hairpin is best if
you're a normal, paying member of the public, but not if you're some
    corporate hospitality whore. Better?
    Natch.

    If you must.
Annoyingly, the mate who used to get me the tickets (because he worked
for Biketrader and it was their box) phoned me yesterday to gloat
    about the free RC8 (http://www.ktm.com/1190-RC8.100204.19.html) he's
just got and that he's got Kawasaki hospitality at Sunday's race. Git
didn't have a spare ticket either.

It says 'Sharper and lighter than anything that calls itself
competition...', yet it weighs 188kg without fuel, which I'm /fairly/
sure isn't lighter than the litre UJMs. Or am I wrong?

"Sharper and lighter than anything that calls itself competition: 120 Nm
torque, 155 HP at 10,000 rpm and withs less than 200 kilos fully tanked."

Of the big-four litrebikes, only Honda quotes the weight with a full tank,
199kg IIRC. The others give the dry weight but I don't know if that's
without the battery (I've seen that trick on a Ducati brochure.)

When Bike Magazine did a test of 4 popular litrebikes they managed to
produce some power and acceleration graphs but couldn't be bothered to
run a simple test like weighing each with a full tank for comparison.

    <Googles>

166Kg dry for the gixer, & there's no way a battery, oil & coolant
weigh 22Kg (if they're what's missing on a 'dry' bike), so the KTM is
indeed a lardy old tourer. OK maybe that's a tad unfair, but it
definitely looks like a case of false advertising to me.
