I think that's on basic pay. I imagine losing shift allowance, bonus
etc will be what really hits them. Still, they're more fortunate than
    many.

  3. Superficially at least, it shows how much Honda have invested in, and
value, their employees. Offhand, I can't think of any British factory
that's ever done this this to such an extent.

But it didn't stop Honda making a sub-standard car. My '07 Civic is
rather disappointing, although I suppose there are plenty of other makes
    that are worse.

There's always going to be the odd one that slips through the net. As a
dedicated older car buyer, I got hold of a Civic on an "N" plate just over
two years ago for the princely sum of 400 squids. I've since done 30,000
problem free miles on it taking it up to 140,000 on the clock and one day I
think I'll give it an oil change and a new filter. Probably.

I had to open the bonnet once (to fill the washer bottle) and the bonnet was
a twat to fasten again because the locking latch was so full of crap it
wouldn't spring back. Lack of use that was, but a squirt of WD sorted it so
it should be good for another couple of years before it needs re-squirting
    again.

Sadly it doesn't appear to be the odd one. When I was at work last year
I new of 10 other Civics of various trim and they all had crap paint, as
an example. The finish chips if a bird farts in a tree 100 yards away.
The lady at reception said, "Well, what do you expect, you've driven it
on the motorway". Fantastic, I didn't see in the small print "this
vehicle is not suitable for motorway use".

    See the link for the list of known "issues" that are common;

The dealer's attitude didn't help and neither did Honda UK. I think I
may have been more forgiving if the dealer and/or HUK had shown the
    slightest interest in helping.

Mine's almost stone chip free but that's probably because it's never had any
of the road shit or bird fart juice washed off.
My son had a CRX when he first passed his test and that thing defied all
attempts to make it break down too, so in our experience, they're more than
    worth a punt.
Dealer attitude is usually a big factor I agree, but mine won't be seeing
the inside of a dealers in my lifetime:)

Indeed. It marks them as a company worth working for.

Pity they make such dull bikes...
