Mind you we have enough goosefat[1] in the freezer from Christmas to cook
    the puddings in now.

    Phil.

[1] 4.5 kilo goose, 2 large tubs of goosefat.

  4. Well, there you GO, then! Yorkshire Puds do not cook proper in oil. You need
proper fat or lard. (What do they teach them in skool these days?)
Seriously, that's why your Toad works.
That works very nicely. Gets hot enough, you see.

  7. Gorgeous, believe me, I did mine that way at Chrimbo. Although, I decided I
prefer me taters roasted under the beef joint.

I didn't know that, and have always used oil, and have never experienced
    flat yorkshires.

Maybe there's some kind of trans-dimensional anomaly in my kitchen.

I couldn't decide if that was an intentional feedline or not, &
changing 'joint' to 'curtains' didn't seem to work somehow.

Hey, I'll have you know tech support is a good first step in the IT
world. Everyone has to start somewhere.

It depends. *Some* oils have quite a low burning point.

  13. True. But a substantial part of my job is looking after the customer
    support desk.

For stress relief I then go back to doing IT techie bits.

    Yes they do.

Firstborn was, when she lived at home, a veggie ad we had to devise ways
of cooking for her needs. She was, in the main, quite happy to have
ordinary meals without the meat bur some concessions had to be made and
I would create for her a separate, veggie, Yorkshire pud, Hers were
always so well risen and so crispy and so light that in the end I
stopped using fat and now use only oil, with much success. I suggest
that if you can't make a decent Yorkshire Pud with oil then you can't
make a decent Yorkshire pud and should shut up.
