  2. I love making that. If I feel really evil, I add those wee baby sausages
towards the end. Rib sticking winter food.

There are and I've been to a few. need to do more....but they tend to
be Sundays when I'm either working or away. I often get stuff in Bulk
from farm shops when I'#m up in E Anglia. A fraction of the
supermarket or even farmers market cost.

  5. That would work nicely. One of the best things about my mother's roast
chicken - which was excellent in itself - was the soup the next day. Carcass
cooked in pressure cooker with whatever veggies were to hand, and some rice.
    Lovely.

As a general rule no. In fact SWMBO prepared a wonderful HF-W celeriac
au gratin just yesterday. There are occasions however, for example after
a long day going slowly up hills watched by one's nearest and dearest
that something quick but a bit special is welcome. Eat out, you say.
Well if it wasn't for the lad we might. Instead we pack him off to bed
after a meal on his own and have a 'Charlie Bigham's'. Round here you
can only get them from Waitrose. They really are quite good and are not
so much processed as collated. Some are very quick like Marinated
Moroccan Lamb and go down very well with Mediterranean roast vegetables.
    Posh nosh for the idle.

    In
I have tried one at a catering show and it was like putting a piece of
sponge in your mouth, not light and moist like an omelette should be.

They certainly bear no resemblance to a real omelette.

There was an article in the paper today. <shock, horror> Potatoes
that are bought unwashed (ie, still covered in soil) last longer than
the washed ones. I thought everyone knew that?

I buy most of my veg from a local farmer, my onions come on a string
for sale via the pub. And my eggs *are* free range, from one of the
regulars in the pub. And, of course, there is always the opportunity
to purchase game via the pub too, fresh )

Freshly bagged that day, doesn't mean we don't leave it to hang.
    Eww too.

I've only ever bought a few ready meals in my life; not because they're
expensive and full of preservatives and stabilisers but because there's
not ever more than enough on them to feed a large budgie.

I deliver somewhere around 60 or 70 boxes of frozen omlettes to a (what
on the surface seems like) posh Brasserie type place and they charge the
    earth for them.

Hint: Next time you see "freshly baked" or "cooked fresh on the
premises", ask 'em how long they've been in the freezer ;-)

    exactly.

sugar, a packet of pasta, a pint of double cream and a multi-pack of
Quavers. This bod must have guts like a cement mixer."

  16. Good one in Wallington, near us. The Doctor is taking a pitch next year,
with stuff from her allotment and The Beez.

    Oh, and horseradish, of course.

  20. The get-out phrase here is "Home cooked". Yes, heated here, but made
somewhere else. And that phraseology is legal.
