    <blog mode>
I've just been stung by a wasp on the back of the ankle whilst mowing
the lawn. It's been years since I last got stung. It smarts more than I
remember. Not even any beneficial arthritis relieving properties in wasp
    venom AFAIK.

To be clear, I'm not talking about a person of particular ethnic origin
    and religion

Nasty. What on earth weren't you wearing on your feet?

I was wearing rubber gardening 'clogs'. Dozy thing stung me through a
sock just above the top of the clog.. They are most likely to get you
this time of year. Warm enough to be awake but too cold to fly off at a
high rate of knots so they get vindictive. How terribly anthropomorphic
    of me.

Put something on it to neutralise the sting.
First make certain you know what stung you then remember the old mantra.
Bicarb for bees, vinegar for vasps.

Indeed they do. I have a pair of crocs with built in socks and I still wear
a pair of socks when I'm wearing the crocs. I can't do with cowd feet.

  9. Have you considered sensible footwear instead?

Crocs are actually the perfect shoe for a sugar mong of many years. They're
comfortable, non pinching, supportive, light, warm and allow sufficient
feeling through the soles and uppers to make the wearer aware of any damage
    occuring to his feet.

Feet are apparently important to a sugar mong, 'specially the undamaged
    variety.
