OT but timely: Proxy voting

  1. On 6 May, I'll be in Turkey so will miss all the fun.

However, I've not been out of the country for a General Election since
1979 and so don't know how to ensure that my vote gets counter.

    Anyone know, FOAK?

Who could you possible vote for these days. A prime architect of the Iraq
    war still runs New Labour.

AOL. I was toying the idea of going for a single issue party this year
but they don't have a candidate for me.

Whichever non-Labour candidate's most likely to win in your
constituency. Getting Labour out's the most important thing imo, as if
they win this time they'll feel invincible & feel they can do what the
    **** they like.

Unfortunately the country's still full of idiots who "won't vote Tory
cos of what Maggie did" or "my family have voted Labour for generations
    so I will too".

I suppose it's where old Labour voters go.
Considering some of the things they stand for (like EU Federalism) it's
mildly depressing that they are the only one of the main three one could
stomach voting for. If one happened to be a GB voter.

I expect if you took the hype and rhetoric out of it and looked another 5
years down the tube it wouldn't make much difference (in the broad sense)
whether Labour or Conservative had been in power. Hmm perhaps they could
just merge. Then the lefties could splinter off and form something with a
catchy name. Something like Socialist Labour Party.
    <googles>
Damn, it's been done before ;o)

Gosh I wonder how many people even remember it now!

If the letter had been anonymous, and the policies uncredited, might you
have viewed them in a different light?

Would 4-5 years of the tories be that bad if it means Brown has to play
nicely next time round? I'd rather have a government who feared for
their position, & that sure as hell won't be Labour if they win again.
Christ I wouldn't, not if it puts the market into meltdown as predicted.

So you're not voting on policy at all, but just on blind prejudice.

    Cool.

It would be nice to see "all Councils must reduce tax by 5% p/a while
ensuring that <list of> basic services remain fully funded"

That would **** up their pet schemes.

Today's great Labour Idea from York Council. Lets resurrect the Congestion
Charge idea and introduce a blanket 20mph limit. Right before an election
    as well <snigger>
