If you'd find it even simpler, by all means.

  3. Somebody sold our newclear[1] weapon manufacturing facility to the USA
gov and an American company a while back.

We no longer have the key to the cupboard as it were.

We haven't had the key since Trident was commissioned. Or possibly even
    Polaris.

But that's only big ICBM / MIRV stuff designed for a war against the USSR
and we were never going to be doing that alone. Tactical field and air
launch nukes are more useful in any realistic scenario.

Though TBF some of the Tridents carry single warheads in a flexible response
inventory. The missiles are leased from the US but I think the warheads are
ours, don't know if that means we can or cannot deploy independently.

Is it actually true I wonder that in 1998 the Nu Labour traitors destroyed
each and every independent UK weapon. I prefer to think that the WE177's had
their Slugs removed and could be returned to service. I may be kidding
myself. Don't know if the UK ever had a tactical Cruise missile warhead, it
would be the most useful, the Yanks can deliver 10kt to 1mt by Cruise.

  6. You are talking about the key to use them (missiles).
I'm talking about the key to make them (nukes).

This saddens me. It doesn't matter how safe the seat is, you should vote
for the party you'd like to see win. The candidate might not win but the
proportion of vote won will be registered and be further ammunition for
those pressing for electoral reform. Futile in the short term, perhaps,
    but certainly not wasted.

A "protest" vote, whether as a spoiled ballot or a vote cast flippantly,
really is a wasted vote. You get the government you deserve.

Good ged you really have gone senile. Forgotten the lessens of history even.

The only good govmint is small govmint.

And why do you think that federalism means ot can't be small? A
fedralist approach with only the bare minimum done at the highest
level, delegating nearly everything, even down to tax-raising and
stuff, at the lowest level possible, should be able to work.

    Like what the Swiss use.

  13. What happens if used - do the Merkins demand payment for replacment
value or is it a Cat D write-off?

Ignoring my awful speeling mistook above.....

That isn't what the EU is all about though is it. Were it so then yes it
might be a good idea. It is however at the opposite end of the spectrum and
dangles a spectre of a centralised govmint ever less unaccountable to any
effective electorate. An absolute end to Direct Democracy.

It hasn't happened suddenly and it won't get worse suddenly, it's a death of
1000 cuts over decades which makes it more dangerous IMHO.

I'm not being trollish or silly, it does seem like quite a real threat to
me, though I won't be sitting here to enjoy it.

FWIW from over here the twists and turns of getting the Schengen agreement
introduced and the "official response" to the Minaret referendum don't cry
out that all is well with Direct Democracy in CH either.

I see you've been "rebordered", and the notional majority is only
    4,559. Not unachievable.

Of course, an acolyte of the monocular halfwit is the best chance of
getting rid of the incumbent. Every silver lining ...

If you could manage it, it would be the best Friday at work, ever.

I really don't get this not a chance business. The counts for each
party start at zero so anything can happen if enough people vote for
    it.

I live in a region that was 45% labour and 32% Libdem last G.E., and
despite what the figures say I'm fairly confident libdem may just
    surprise people this time around.

I'm a bit tempted to tell more people to put £10 on it at 200/1 and
vote though... it worked for Rage Against the Machine's recent number
    one.

    I think you're wrong.

The following is copied from the AWE website and the key words are
    government ownership.

AWE is managed for the Ministry of Defence (MOD) through a
contractor-operated arrangement. While our sites and facilities remain
in government ownership, their management, day-to-day operations and
the maintenance of Britain’s nuclear stockpile is contracted to a
private company: AWE Management Limited (AWE ML).

To me that means that we (the UK) still own it but let the merkins
manage it. We're fitting the warheads to their bloody missiles so it's
    hardly a big deal.
