Let me rephrase it - I hadn't realised that the current Tory party
policies had re-aligned so much with my opinions.

But in any case, those answers tended to be the "least bad" ones.

It's the one (ha! one! there I am in dreamland again) thing the libdems
    lack - a credible frontman.

I'd really recommend tracking down the chancellors' debate though, it
was a landslide yet futile victory for one man and an exercise in
    wriggling for the others.

Quoth "Malcolm Tucker" writing in the Guardian:

Clegg the kingmaker. Yeah, right. This guy couldn't make a king out of
a two-piece Duplo "Make a King" kit without putting the arse on the
    head.

I didn't know whether to laugh or wince.

    Well...

IIRC we both picked the xenophobic loons in "Welfare".

Looking at the choices, the BNP's real giveaway "utterly bogus asylum
seeker and immigration swindles" is only in the "see more". UKIP's are a
    chunk more credible.

That's my excuse, and I'm sticking to it.

Anyway, why do I need to justify myself to a dirty foreigner like you,
    hmm...?

IKWYM. However, I think NC is a capable enough politician (and
probably better placed than CK or MC) to make good use of the
opportunities a hung parliament may afford.

I feel our unwritten constitutional rights have been severely eroded
over the last few years with far too many new laws criminalising just
about everything we do so a written constitution appeals. Clincher was
the abolishment of the House of Lords and the Monarchy.

    Economy Labour
Getting the 18-24 year olds off the streets check ! Helping the poor
capitalists who've joined the landowning elite and been shafted check !

    Education Lib Dems
This was a tough one, eventually swung by the "high quality vocational
qualifications as building blocks" stance. Particularly resonates with
me as our local school recently asked our son to leave as they felt it
wasn't really the best place for him.

    Health / NHS BNP
All much of a muchness here to be quite honest.

I think this one got my vote as it was simple and as such probably even
achievable. Replace 100,000 NHS bureaucrats with doctors, nurses and
dentists ! Clean the wards !

Even "End the scandal of foreign health tourism" is nice and catchy, we
have to pay through the nose when abroad, only fair it's reciprocated.

If by "pay through the nose", you mean pay the same as the locals pay,
it is already reciprocal. At least in the EU.

Do other nationalities get the "benefit" of free NHS treatment?

Probably, but this is also true in some other EU countries. When I had
the end of my finger stitched back on in Greece a few years back they
didn't even need to know what country I was from. I mean, I'm sure
they asked for my name and address, but the hospital wasn't in the
business of charging, just like in the UK.

Perhaps people who make plausible Chancellors don't make good party leaders?

OK I'm struggling to remember good things they claimed they would do and
actually did. Excepting the fox hunting with dogs thing.

I was quite clearly a bit tired and emotional when I wrote that one. A
Menzies/Campbell tag team? That boggles the mind.

Ming leader, Vince chancellor. Dream ticket. Tomorrow, world peace.

I don't personally count EU nationals as foreign, I'm one and I've got
    my EHIC card.
That'll teach me to cut out "Although I suspect that it's a bit
misleading and it's probably impossible to measure never mind cut back"

    Interesting article here

In terms of paying through the nose I meant having your credit card
    details taken before being treated.

I can't remember individual examples, but I do remember during those
early years being glad that in Blair we at last had a PM that could do
the right thing sometimes - quite often, in fact.

Hmm I tried to whiz through them without thinking about which party it was
and came out with some UKIP percentage which surprised me not a little.
Which rather highlights the shortcomings of the "vote for policies" concept
because it needs to be a party which could actually run an effective
govmint. So it does come down to the least evil.
