Only that's bollocks. I had a brush with the reaper whilst abroad 2
weeks ago[1]. 5 days in hospital, battery of tests and a 5 page report
for my GP[2]. Total cost to me ¤31 (¤15 for the Doctor & ¤16
prescription). I'd left my insurance docs at home and was reluctant to
call the sprog to fish them out for obvious reasons. Showed my UK
passport and the forms were stamped 'Free of Charges' [3]

[1] Not the best holiday I've ever had by a long stretch.
[2] He was well impressed by this, reckons the best information he's
    had from a hospital.
[3] Malta, I am no connoisseur of hospitals but it seemed pretty good.

I spent four hours of last Saturday afternoon in a hospital in Las
Vegas with a mate who needed a bit of looking after and some blood
    tests.

They took a *deposit* of usd2500.

Yeah, but it will be interesting to see the final bill.

How does one price up two medics from the hotel, a fire truck(!) with
four personnel, an ambulance plus three personnel, a ride to the
hospital, four hours connected to various machines and a number of
    blood tests?

Are you sure you're not doing a darsy and quoting the plot from a film
(The Hangover) as if it was your own life?

So you knew you were ill and went to Malta for treatment. That's
*different*. I guess the nurses must be cuter.

    Unfortunately not.

Not once did a chinaman jump out of the boot of a car.

It's the price of capitalism in healthcare.

  12. That's irrelevant. Kuwait wouldn't piss on Britain if it was burning.
    They are selfish, arrogant cunts.

    A quick guess of $30k.

The fire truck is standard. There are more firetrucks than ambulances,
with quicker response times, and there's usually a paramedic on the
trucks, so the truck will respond until the ambulance gets there.
