A friend of mine goes all over the World paragliding and I sent him
that link when I was supposed to be working earlier. He phoned within
5 minutes and couldn't stop laughing about how stupid the bloke must
    have been.

I actually though tethering it to the ground so you couldn't go too
high wasn't a bad idea and learning to paraglide from YouTube isn't
that much worse than learning how to ride a motorbike on a disused
railway line before you're even a teenager.

  6. Yeah, that was what got me. I mean, I've tethered hot-air balloons to
cars to stop them flying off, but what was he thinking of?

    It'll behave like a kite?

It'll stop me going too high?

    Wtf?

it is the funniest thing I've seen today.

    what an arsehole.

Actually, though, I wouldn't have been totally surprised if had turned
    out to be you.

You honestly think he would have bothered to tether himself? More likely
found high up in a tree 20 miles from the car.

I'm sure this would suit him better and it's only 3 days overtime

I'm quite fancying a powered (or unpowered) lesson. It's near Ashbourne. If
    anyone else is enthusiastic.

I've already looked at getting one of those because you can fly them
out of a place 20 miles from home.

Not that I'd give a **** about the legalities of flying one from
Bedford park, it's just that it might be easier to start from
somewhere where others are just as stupid.

    Wuss.

I'm sure I could get Champ interested in giving it a go if I bought
    one.

I think there's a place about 8 miles from your home.

Really? I thought Brampton was the closest and that's getting on for
    20 miles.

8 miles makes it even more of an interesting proposition. I'm working
Saturday and bank holiday Monday so there might be a bit of disposable
    floating around soon.

I'm reasonably surprised to find that I probably would.

    And then I'd die.

I've got other plans in hand that you might be more interested in.

I'll catch up with you on the island if you're over there and I'll get
you pissed enough to go for it.

The Bedford Microlight Centre, just west of the A603/A1 junction on the
A603, may be able to help.
