  1. As they don't ask for a name (or any other info) when you ring up and
they don't know me well enough to recognise my voice then I'm not sure
how anyone would verify my intent against what the dealer knew by way of
    the phone call. No evidence.
That much I knew and I haven't done that.

  2. daft question - would not the lack of MOT and tax be used by the ins co,
in the event of a claim, as reasons not to pay out? In effect your
    bikes were illegal.

  5. I'm sure he will see the funny side. I just thought you were clouting
him with a bloody big handbag. It was almost as acerbic as Ginge's
    recent "good points" post.

It's dead easy, you just fit non standard brake pads. AP ones did the
    job on my 9R

Well, Perhaps I just have ubercunts working for my PO, who, when I
enquired about un-sorning a vehicle that was outside of the time period
that the reminder covered [1], was informed that I needed to produce
the latest reg. document plus the usual docs in order to get it taxed.

Mind you, they are the same ones that, despite seeing me week in, week
out, for a while getting the tax for company cars, declined to re-tax a
company vehicle because I didn't have a covering letter with the
    company letter-head.

Thinking about it, whenever I've had a vehicle off the road for a while
(before the SORN thing came in) you always had to fill a form in for
that, too, but in those days you didn't need to produce your proof of
    ownership.

[1] When the Fiat was in for a lot of expensive work that meant I
wasn't going to be able to tax it when it should have been taxed.

I have a fairly liberal/advisory view on most construction and use
regulations or traffic acts but the insurance requirement is one I've
    kept to.

...and if they fail as warped but don't pulse at the lever? Yes, I did
see the brake meter going up and down.

    sweller says...
That's the strange thing. Brake levers don't always pulse when the discs
are warped but on the road you can feel the bike juddering on the brakes
quite badly. I've seen bikes on the brake rollers with very obviously
warped discs that have a nice steady lever, but you can feel and see the
readings showing the change in braking forces as you try them.
Conversely my old ZZR discs made the lever pulse like hell but the disc
was only very slightly warped, only just over the service limit in fact.

No the test station needs to have your appointment written down 'somewhere'
hence my earlier post regarding the 'holiday diary'

General ride? Would that be the 24 miles I rode to an MOT station,
    deliberately
passing no less than fourteen other testing stations? Calling in to the club
    rally
    on the way home!

I can trump that with a 1000 mile ride, then a six month break, before
taking it to the MOT station.

1000 miles? You must have taken a fucking long detour then - it's less
than 500 from mine to the channel.

tax has nothing to do with insurance. Actually, neither does MOT - the
bikes were fully roadworthy (though in the case of the 7R not strictly
    MOT-able).
    naughty me.
