I tried one of those a few weeks ago.

With the supplied aerial I got a picture of a blizzard if I got the
aerial far enough outside the window.

I couldn't get anything digital unless I connected it to our house
aerial - the portable aerial from my sons telly wasn't up to it either.

I got something similar at that sort of price and, as long as you use a good
    aerial, it works very well.

  6. Works fine with the old house aerial plugged in.
Seems to pick up pretty much everything thats available.
Picks up a few less channels with the little aerial, 1,2,itv,4,5 are all
there + 20 or so others.
It does seem to get a bit feckin' ot' though.

Looks like I need to get a new aerial on the roof as I only get a few channels.
This cheap freeview business is getting expensive.

  8. I think I was lucky, the old aerial was crap for analogue, but appears to be
perfect for the oxford digital transmitter which is about 7miles away as the
    harley flies.

The cheap small aerial is greatly boosted if attached by its magnetic base
to a radiator - verified at work and at home.
