Ran a competition about 10 weeks back in conjunction with the producers of that bloody aweful American Chopper series. First prize was a trip for two to `Merkin land to ride around on a couple of hire bikes ( there was an option to choose a cage instead) which would be fun. Basically you sent/e-mailed/posted them a picture of your customised wheels, very broad criteria as long as it had two wheels and ran it seemed you were in with a shout. So prompted by my brothers 16 year old son and for a laugh I sent them some piccies of our `lil red drag-scooter. Needless to say I did`nt win but through the post this morning came a jiffy bag and on opening it up found a very nice letter from the folks at Discovery along the lines of "massive response....loads of great entries...unfortunately you did`nt win but keep up the good work" and a rather nice baseball cap with the logo on the front. Now I can look like a better informed class of chavscum ;-) The point being my surprise that a major company like them took the time to bother sending a reply and a token prize to people that had entered. -- Petel . 02 M2 Buell. Damn! I thought I was the only viewer and guaranteed the first prize. Wonder who won the other baseball cap? -- Petel . 02 M2 Buell. C90-ZZR. Piaggio/Gilera 125 Red Dwarf Sprinter http://homepage.ntlworld.com/peteh1/website/index.html
You just try and get a taste of the stuff at their distillery! I was in Huntsville for a few days a couple of years back, and just down the road from Lynchburg where the JD distillery lives. Thought we'd take an 'excursion' and one of our non whisky-drinking engineers was nominated as driver. Did the full tour which was excellent, and we were nearly drooling by the time we got back to the "presentation bar", only to find that lemonade or coke was all that was on offer! Turns out that as Lynchburg has <2000 residents, no alcohol is allowed to be sold! WTF! However just back over the state line in Alabama, there must have been about 50 off-licences, pubs etc within 200yds. Only in America... JB.
