Ish, I suppose, but I'm still very far from convinced about this
V-Power fuel. Sure, it's higher octane, but so what? How many road
bike or car engines are designed to run on 100 RON stuff?

I know that most modern vehicles can cope with lower-than-spec fuel,
byt simply retarding the ignition, but even ones that are designed to
run best on 98 surely won't run any better on 100.

Some will. If the ECU is set up to advance ignition to the point where knock
starts, then retard it slightly, then higher octane fuel will result in
higher performance. Won't work on yer bog-standard Fiesta though.

Good stuff. Personally I prefer the older cars and by a bizarre
coincidence was at Donington Park on Saturday taking photos of the 3rd
car in the sequence ( 1971 312B)[1] as Mario Andretti [2] clambered in
    to do some demo laps.

[1] Quite likely the actual car featured in the ad.
[2] It a was a bid odd being so close to such a legend but he seemed
    like a decent bloke.
