On this subject - was there some big God-bothering event on a
    Twickenham today?

Loads folk done up to the nines, walking to the stadium around 8:15
    this morning.

  5. Good idea. SWA (single wire armoured) would do the same job here.

Almost certainly a Jehova's Witness meeting at the stadium.

That is *not* the meaning of DoD, anyway (and if I tould you I'd have
    to kill you, etc...)

It has some sort of "proud to be a Spaniard" meaning, so you may see
other animals for those who rather feel "proud to be anything else, if
    possible", say:
    http://www.burrocatala.com/

Concerning bulls, I remember the last time we discussed about Pedrosa I
was under the influence of a bottle of Torres Sangre de Toro ("bull
blood" wine), so I should apologize if I happened to be harsh...

  13. Yes I know and I had anticipated the death threat. It was a feeble
    attempt at a joke.
I wouldn't worry. No one was going to accept anything I said on the
subject so I decided not to reply to any more of the posts. There is
obviously only one way of assessing a motorcyclist taking part in a
championship and it's not the way I do it.

  15. You must know my brother; he used to always precede that sentence
    with, "The word is 'legs'!"

ISTR one parody of the icthys thing with it just starting to grow
    proto-feet.

  16. The last bit I won't reply to :) but the former is fairly easy - when
times get unsettled people reach for religion. Most people were bought
up nominally as christian and so it's that that they reach for.

Of course they are all heretics but we won't go into that ;-)

  17. Largely happy-clappy evangelical stuff - generally fulfills the "I'm
part of something wonderful" feeling without actually demanding a great
    deal from its adherents[1].
Yes (to both) - there is more polarisation within the traditional
churches and as a result more people going to the two extremes. There
are also a lot of 'Southern Baptist' type churches springing up who are
not necessarily affiliated to any of the main bodies but are part of
    the general ecumenical movement.
Indeed. They want someone to tell them that everything is OK, that they
are loved and wanted and that when it all goes horribly wrong it's not
    their fault.
Some of which is true but most of it isn't!
