I'm with Darsy on this one. I *really* couldn't see the point of this
remake - it added virtually nothing to the original and the 'interpretation'
    was identical.

I've, surprisingly enough, never even heard of, let alone seen, either
    version.

I've seen the (Swedish) original, so didn't bother with the remake. The
    original is pretty good.

    wait...this is Belgian, not French.

Great movie though, but not French.

One problem is that seldom do people remake a crap film. They start
with a very good film, so the bar is high to begin with.
Even so, there are some that are at least as good as the original.
The Birdcage, with Robin Williams and Nathan Lane
    Unfaithful, with Diane Lane

My French is piss poor so I stick to more light hearted stuff like
"Brice de Nice" and Les Visiteurs. Sounds like "Le Diner De Cons" might
    matche my preferences.

For the ultimate in light entertainment you can't beat the three Taxi
movies, although I think it's important to watch them in order starting
with the original written by Luc Besson and directed by Gérard Pirès.

Can't mention French movies without wanting to watch Wasabi again and again.

Not if the remake of La Cage aux Folles is anything to go by - that was
    unutterably bad.

    I love Wasabi.

    I mean the Japanese horseradish.

**** - is this 3rd reply? - by god, I'll be banned from Usenet.

Still, what I meant to say is that I disagree - all of the 3 colors
are worth it, if you're in the right mood.

And...just to add another mad francophone choice: Eden Log.

Try 'Un Gars Une Fille'. I believe pretty complete excerpts are available
    on YouTube.

There was "labeled" elsewhere, too. But I don't like to kick a man

    eh, what's wrong with "labeled"?

    <fx: checks>

OK, so my hard-copy Chambers[1] has it with double-l, but Merriam
Webster online with a single. ****, I'm turning American.

[1] this is the gold-standard for Scrabble, which is the only reason I
have it. I have the "official" Scrabble word list too, but it's full
