When I go, they can just chuck my body in the nearest skip and go down
    the pub and get pissed.

"It's what he would have eanted".

That's because you're on the rational end of the rational -> mystic
scale. I would explain further but it's not worth the effort. Though
    some of this is interesting

    Or from the same guy

For what is it to die but to stand naked in the wind and to melt into
    the sun?
And what is it to cease breathing,
but to free the breath from its restless tides,
that it may rise and expand and seek God unencumbered?
Only when you drink from the river of silence shall you indeed sing.
And when you reach the mountain top, then you shall begin to climb.
And when the earth shall claim your limbs, then shall you truly dance.

    I think it's a mission statement.

There are very few decent Rilke translations unfortunately. One of the
few poets who makes me wish I was better with languages than I am.
Good choice, wouldn't go down well with this audience I feel. Which is
no reason not to do it.
"Quietly they go, the intelligent, the witty, the brave.
I know. But I do not approve. And I am not resigned."

    <sniff> Thank you.

If you are truly unable to feel a sense of mystery and wonder then I
    pity you.
    See above.
    Much as expected.

I'm not really into myself. But his thoughts on crime and punishment
(also from The Prophet) are ok. e.g.

"If any of you would bring to judgment the unfaithful wife,
Let him also weigh the heart of her husband in scales, and measure his
    soul with measurements.
And let him who would lash the offender look unto the spirit of the
    offended."

You know when you had a go at Bear for making generalisations? That's
    you that is.
Why? You won't be there remember?
