Genuine. I do think the world will be a duller place without her, and
the majority (I would guess) of Brits feel the same. I have to say,
though, that my post was motivated less by wanting to air any thoughts
I might have on the matter and more by the desire to have at least one
post on ukrm with a kindish word to say about her before the
predictable stampede of posts competing to find the unkindest words to
say about her. As it happens I wasn't alone.
    Fair enough.

I'm a bit undecided as to whether she's done 'the right thing' by
ensuring her kids will at least have a start in life that's
financially secure or whether she's prostituted herself for a couple
of million and her kids will suffer for it for the rest of their
    lives.

I'm glad it's not a decision I'll ever have to make and I'm glad she's
dead and it'll all be over in a couple of weeks. I think the bottom
line is that her kids are too young to be without their mum and I hope
someone looks after them rather than leaving them as some kind of
    dysfunctional targets for ppv tv.

I dunno, I thought 'Shilp Fuckawallah' was quite fruity.

    Columnist in The Independent.

I quite often like what he writes, but I've not read what he has to
    say on La Goody.

Probably less of a lasting effect than their genetic legacy.

kerry katona is still around though, occupying exactly the same spot
inside our brains, so we might not even notice.

That's fairly presumptuous. I don't know anyone that is saddened by or
regrets her loss. The closest would be my Mrs, but that's just empathy
for someone that's died of cancer.

I suspect that's because you move in different circles from the
    majority of Brits.

Sounds like you have a highly developed version of the natural
subconscious bullshit filtering ability most of us blokes are born
with. It seems to drive the Doris mad, but I wouldn't be without this
subconscious super skill. Whenever one of the females in our household
starts jabbering away endlessly 99.999% of it gets cat'd automatically
to /dev/null without any conscious effort on my part. No wasted CPU
cycles whatsoever. Somehow, magically the (increasingly rare) odd
snippet of worthwhile information still manages to register. "Would
you like a G&T dear?" or "Top Gear has just started" for example. A
skill worth having, I can tell ya.

You appear to have extended this ability to work outside the usual
    wife / daughter / mother-in-law scope. Impressed.

Bloody google is a right PITA. Sometimes it comes up with my nick,
sometimes my email address. <fx: sigh>

Well, the coup de grace was when they had a 'special edition' for the
    launching of Windows 98 [1].
