OT (?) Governors' Race

The race for governor is heating up and the list of potential candidates is
beginning to take shape, although it is fluid and seems to change from day
to day.. We are seeing the political strategies beginning to fashion
themselves and not much else of substance..

Already the lines are being drawn (?) and the sides being debated.. The most
interesting part is that Texas has one of the lowest voter turnouts in the
nation.. The cries of "I'm for this one" or "I'm for that one" and "Your guy
is worse than my guy" have begun to be heard..

Whups.. hold on there, guys.. This is going to be a long and pretty intense
campaign.. Outside of the districts they come from, most of the announced
candidates are virtually unknowns to the voters in general.. Rick Perry is
about the only candidate in this race, so far .. that is familiar,
    statewide..

Now to the point of all this.. The governors' race is perhaps more critical,
this year because of the many issues which affect voters, consumers and
taxpayers .. That pretty well includes us all, doesn't it ? We've seen our
costs of living skyrocket during the past several years of governance ..
Utility rates have risen dramatically and obscenely.. Insurance rates for
homes and vehicles have really taken off.. Health costs have risen to
prohibitive proportions.. Political influence and corruption has increased
alarmingly.. right, wrong or indifferent.. that is the public perception..

The general consensus is that our system is broken and needs to be fixed..
right ? OK.. let's do it then.. The boys and girls who are going to be
soliciting our votes are going to have to convince the voters that they
deserve those votes.. In order for me to be persuaded, I'm going to have to
see the indications of leadership that is going to be necessary to "fix
it".. The Parties leadership are going to have to justify the support of
    their candidates..

Examples of that leadership are going to have to be defined to me.. and I
ain't interested in some guy that has recently converted or transformed
miraculously and conveniently, in time to run for governor of Texas.. We've
been there, done that before.. and ultimately we discover that the turkey
backslid into his old pre-transformed self after he won the election..
Damn.. we can do so much better than that, can't we ? That candidate is
going to have to possess enough leadership to lead constituents to the polls
... He's needs to motivate more than the meagre percentages of eligible
voters than we've seen in the past.. The small percentages of voters who
don't go to those polls are an indication to me, that the candidates offered
on the ballot are milquetoast and don't have enough leadership ability to
get those people off their asses and enthusiastic enough to go vote.. Later
... those candidates will either enjoy the low voter turnout by being elected
or the losers will moan and cry about losing their races because of the low
voter turnout.. Either way, they'll blame the grassroots.. That's hogwash..
if those candidates don't have the leadership ability to motivate the
grassroots voters and get them to the polls on their behalf, then they don't
deserve to win an election.. dammit.. How are they expected to effectively
run our government if they can't even lead voters to the polls to vote for
    them ?

Now then.. the ones who are attempting to draw those lines and choose up
sides, this early.. are foolish.. Hell .. we don't even know what that
ballot is going to look like in November.. Every one of the candidates who
are involved in this race for governor.. needs close scrutiny.. Who are
these people ? Where do they come from ? What are their values and
principle ? Who are they going to represent if/when they are elected ?
And.. most of all.. do they own the leadership skills to deliver what they
promise when they are in office ?

LOL... I'm a Democrat.. and I'm hoping the leadership of my party can field
the candidate who is capable to unseat Rick Perry.. Perry needs to leave my
governor's office.. But .. I'll be damned if I will settle for changing
dollar bills.. The voters have been content with that result for decades..
I'm looking for the candidate that demonstrates the skills to increase voter
turnouts at the polls.. Let's take our government back, this November, but
let's take it back with genuine leaders and not some kind of political hack
that doesn't give a rip for his constituents .. If my party fields that
candidate, I'll sure be happy.. If not.. I can wait.. Texans will eventually
get fed up enough that they'll oust every corrupt bastard that sits in
office.. I've got pride and confidence in my state and my fellow Texans..
    We'll make it.. Regards

<chuckle> Better read my post again, JailCall.. I haven't culled anyone,
yet. Especially at this early date.. You are so right, Perry has to go..
That's my only committment.. I'd like to see a candidate hit the ground
running and be a strong enough leader that he'd turn out 80 % of the voters
to go to the polls.. If he's that strong, he'll have enough leadership that
he can govern effectively and strongly enough to influence policies that
will be positive for the State and the consituents..

I am not really sure that any of these candidates that we've seen so far,
have that ability.. The only known players are Rick Perry and Carole Keating
Strayhorn, and we've got their track records to convince us that we don't
need them in office, for sure..

Like I said, it's going to be a long and intense campaign.. Relax and enjoy
    it.. Regards

<lol> I don't even care if he can't read, at all.. if he has the integrity
and courage to get someone to read him the legislation that he signs into
law .. And.. have enough leadership ability to lead a majority of Texans to
informed decisions .. Our greatest problem in Texas, is that our
representatives are elected and far less than ten percent of eligible voters
decide who will serve in office.. That is a disgrace and a lack of
    leadership..

    Albert is exactly right.
I know several people that moved their business out of Infomart long ago.
Other locations offered a much better deal as to associated fees, access,
    and other business related essentials.
I felt the same way when they closed the Kowbell Arena.
