OT : Gumtree

Does any have any experience of using Gumtree?
I have advertised flats to let on it in the past, and have one up at
the moment, an odd thing always seems to happen, after about 3 days I
always get a couple of replies from odd looking email addresses,
"" for example, always the same format, and
always a waste of time. I am guessing that they are automated
responses from Gumtree to make me want to pay to bump the ad back to
the top of the listings. This has happened today to an advert I posted
for a car (1) I sold today.
