OT Hotels in Whitby

Discussion in 'UK Motorcycles' started by brian.willis13, Mar 18, 2009.

  1. Am hoping to go to Whitby with a group of yankee friends for a weekish
in September, any recommendations for a hotel. Would be really useful
if it has a car park.

    Cheers

Rubbish. It's a nice place, with lots of other nice places round
about. We often head down that way.

  7. Time to rethink the rethink. Shame I shall be driving a large cage,
maybe a minibus clearly parking is not going to be easy. Our main
purpose is to walk the moors, visit York and see quaint olde norf
England. The Yanks are very anglophile and love Brit history. So, some
    helpful thoughts thank you folks.

We've taken the Yanks to the Lakes, North Wales, Dorset, Somerset, and
Cornwall so thought it was time for the north east, ruled out Durham
as we've been there ourselves. Any further ideas greatly welcomed.

We ended up getting "locked in" at the Black Horse. . . . as long we kept
the guitar working, then they were more than willing to keep serving beer.

  11. I think Whitby Abbey is pretty nice, but there might not be a great
deal else there. So then drive to York, which is a splendid town.

They'd certainly have something to talk about for the next few years.

Whitley Bay is brilliant and whenever a job came up at the shipyard
we all used to put our names forward. It's a bit mad any night of the
week and weekends are not for the faint hearted but I always enjoyed
    myself up there.
The one place in the North East that I'd honestly nuke into orbit is
Hartlepool but that's only because a stupid little space cadet decided
to give me 10 stitches with a Bud bottle for no reason at all.

I think you live on another planet if you believe ignoring someone at
a bar when they ask you to buy them a drink is a reason to be hit in
    the face with a bottle.

    Understandable.

Several people asked me how many times I called him a monkey hanging
**** before he bottled me but it just a stupid little space cadet who
was obviously whacked out of his head on cheap drugs and he appeared
to take offence at me ignoring his request for a beer when I was
    buying a round.

The barmaid told the manager exactly what happened and when they
checked the cctv they had the fucker bang to rights. The head bouncer
asked if I wanted the cops to see the film or if I wanted the bouncers
to batter him so I told them to kill him for me. They don't like
contractors getting bottled for no reason because they quickly lose
    the bulk of their trade.

I was lucky to get away with 10 stitches in my eyebrow but I was
mainly annoyed at only hitting him once before he ran out of the bar.
    And the same to you.
I was sent out with a minder for a few weeks after that because my
boss was worried that I'd quit if it happened again. The guy I was
with when the incident took place was off like a rat up a drainpipe as
soon as it started, I didn't really blame him because working with
someone doesn't mean you have to take a bottle on the head for them
but the other guys who worked there were all really unhappy about his
    reaction.

Yeah but you have a slight size advantage over most folk which in itself
heads off a lot of potential aggro.
