Can beer be out of date?

What happens to you if it not more than 2 months out of date?

    Oh, yes, indeed.
Well... it's exceedingly dangerous by this point, and not really safe
for the untrained to even open the bottle, never mind consider drinking
    the contents.

Fortunately, I am well versed in the art of dangerous beer disposal.
Send it up here and I'll take care of it for you.

That would depend on what type of beer. A 'real' ale might go off,
but I would be very surprised if a 'astro keg' type really ever went
    off

You'd almost certainly know if it had gone off, it would probably have
noticed that it tasted awful. Effects could include nausea, vomiting
and runny poo (can't be arsed to spell the d-word)
Unilkely to do much else TBH
    What are drink by dates?

Generally stuff in cans will be fine.

In a previous job my boss used to give away the out of date beer to
staff, and no-one ever complained about it - including me.

Also, bear in mind that it's a 'best before' rather than 'use by' date -
'best before' is an advisory only, and is likely to be very
    conservative.

As an aside - a store can't be prosecuted for a 'best before' date, as
it has to be proven 'unwholesome' - manufacturers tend, therefore, to be
conservative about the dates, as they know that stores are particularly
lazy about checking these date codes.... also remember that until about
10 years ago it was up to you to decide if it was fit to drink / eat, as
nothing had a 'best before' date on it.
    Just drink it, ffs!

You apparently[1] misunderstand. I would be providing a service, for
which you would pay me. See?

It all depends on how long it's been on the table and whether or not you
    can get the flies out.

Hmmm. I already pay the council a regular fee to take stuff away that
I don't want. I think they'd take this under the current
arrangements, without any extra charge being due.

OK. From memory, there's one bottle of Leffe (foul stuff, imo), and a
few cans of Stella. And a can of Strongbow, I think. That do?

  19. You don't like Leffe? Heathen. If you seriously don't want it,
I'll have it. Although Eddie may claim first dibs... Just send
    him the Stella and Strongbow...

I think I have three bottles of some Thai beer from around August,
and two bottles of white wine (one probably from Xmas 2002, the
other from Xmas 2001) in the fridge and some red wine given to me
in various years, from 1999 onwards at a guess.
