Does anyone have a 4th generation ipod classic that they no longer use
having upgraded? Want to sell it to me? My new ipod doesn't take the
old belkin microphone for recording and the old one was stolen in the
burglary. They do new microphones for the new ipods but I want to keep
my music and my data on separate machines.

    Indeed. What's an ipod again?

Should I have stuck 'really old' in the subject line? It makes a good
    icebreaker when interviewing teenagers.

They are curiously expensive second hand, or at least the 5th Gen ones are.

I wanted a > 40G model to live in the car, and objected to full cost
new. Managed to score one with a slightly busted screen off ebay for £51.

Is it any good for you, and could we do some kind of swap?

My ebay trawl just came up with ones for spares or repairs or ones
that gave me the 'hmmm, that's nicked' feeling.
    I only need 40G.
If the microphone will fit then possibly yes. I'm loathe to get one
from ebay because of the thought that some other poor sod who has had
theirs pinched is having it blatantly sold on.

What are you short of that I may have that we could swap?

Basically only an iPod with > 40G capacity. I thought you might have one
that was only deficient in the microphone connectivity department, IYSWIM

    I've got a 5th Gen iPod (60Gb) + MyVu glasses + Hardcase. I'll look at
getting shot of the lot for, say, £100. I'm not using it anymore.

I've seen that LN has passed on the offer. I'll get it sorted out ASP
and will drop you an email (with some photos, etc) so you can make a
    more informed decision.
