OT(ish): Tyre Pressures -FOAK

    OTis 'cos its a SOC Q.

    Got a nice little Pug 106 for Alan to tra^H^H drive for the next 12
    months and didn't notice until t'other day the tyres are not the
    regulation 145/155s but 165/65s.

    The books list the standard as 32psi, they all seem to have 28psi.

    Should I stick with that (28) or 32 psi ?
    Does a member of the FOAK know the best course of action here ?

    I'd stick with 32 psi myself. 28 sounds a bit low for a car made from
    bacofoil cut-offs.

    No, they just go wrong in a variety of bizarre and inexplicable ways, all of
    which cost a fucking fortune to fix.

    I'd say it's irrelevant. I doubt the vast majority of cars ever have
    their pressures checked between services, & those that do will mostly
    use the woefully innacurate guages on garage air lines. Whack 'em up to
    35 to save a bit of fuel then forget about it.

    This reminds me of a conversion I had with the Triumph Product Development
    Manager a few years ago, around the launch of the 1200.

    It went something like...

    Me: "So what will this bike do to the gallon?"
    Him: "Why should you care? It will cost more in tyres per mile than petrol."

    Do the maths, he was right!
