I just think that the whole thing is to the benefit of the parents and
    not the child.

    Cab () gurgled happily, sounding
much like they were saying :
If the aim is to keep the poor little mong at home, cared for by people who
DO care, as opposed to shoving her into some kind of nursing facility
understaffed by the uninterested, then that HAS to be to the benefit of the
    kid.

Fair point, but was the mother not part of "they" then?

I'm not sure I know how to ask that any other way...When you had your
last birthday, what was the big coloured number on the cards you got?

I would agree that there would appear to be some hint of this in the
news of the merkin child yes but I would not agree that it is so in all
cases. Although if the parents are the carers then they are entitled to
some benefits as well, it can't be the easiest of jobs.

I arent sure what the **** my age has to do with the fact i find it
deeply disturbing. rather than trying to berate me, why dont you share
    your thoughts?

Or, are you too old to have any without help?

I simply asked your age. I'm 38 for instance. Steve Auvache is about
    94. Snowie looks about 21 (PFCT;). If it makes you uncomfortable to
tell me then please don't answer and I apologise.

I don't see how "keeping her small" is going to benefit the kid. Fine,
the hysterectomy may be justified on the grounds of not having periods.

But the rest (such as hormone treatment and removal of the appendix and
breast buds) is only going to benefit the parents.

Who's to say that in ten years time, the girl won't be moved to a
nursing home because the parents can't cope with her or when they too
old to look after her? What difference does it make as to what size she
is? Who's to say that they won't find a cure in the future for the
    static encephalopathy?

There must be thousands of cases throughout the world where parents
look after children in similar situations. Why haven't we heard of them
opting for the same sort of treatment?

What if the child concerned was a boy? How would he be treated?

IMO, there are too many unknowns and I think that it's being selfish on
    the part of the parents.

What's all this then, some new yardstick to measure the passage of time?

"Oh yes the dinosaurs died out 678 Auvaches ago."

    "Back in an Auvache Dear"

"The Antarctic Ice Shelf will be all gone in a little over an Auvache an
    a half."

"Did you know this bus is nearly an Auvache late?"

I don't see it catching on.

The implication was that being easier to move around makes it less
likely that she'll suffer discomfort. Other factors not mentioned
include things like bedsores, which are aggravated by lack of movement
and weight, so may be alleviated both directly and indirectly by this.
    How will either benefit them?
Err, it's not something that can get better. One might find a cure for
the cause(s) but once brain damage has taken effect it's not
reversible. Unless someone invents a way of generating brain tissue
from nothing, which is pretty much in the realms of Sci-Fi. Or a
    complete brain transplant, perhaps.
Just because a lot of the factors are unknown to _you_ doesn't mean
that the parents and medical staff haven't considered them.

Their argument revolves, in part, around the possible strength of a full
grown vegetable and ease of her control.

It's all a part of the same process intended to prevent physical
    maturity from occurring.

You aren't liking it any better are you?
Another part of their argument says that the bonsaiing of the kid will
allow them to keep her longer. I didn't hear but I suspect they expect
    to outlive their offspring.

Words such as comfort, control, ease, suitability and stuff were used in
    great abundance.

    Not me.
Because if the BBC were to report home news as it's major feature it
would have to include Blur and it is doing it's right and proper public
service by not because the folks of this far land are sick to fucking
death of the conniving **** and his bent mates and we don't want any
more of hearing about all that thank you very much and besides they are
    competing against Big Brother.

I think the correct procedure starts by getting him elected as the
    Governor of Texas.

Have you got kids? I am sure I would hold less woolly opinions on this
    if I didn't.
