Reading another thread about the Christmas greetings and stuff, I kinda got to thinking about all this holiday seasons business.. Now, I'm not some kind of devout christian, by any means.. I do believe in God and the scripture.. The writings in the Bible have meaning for me.. The accuracy of those writings aren't important as the meanings that I take from them.. Whether or not Christ was born in that manger or not, isn't important.. Exactly what day he was born isn't of significance.. All the details of that birth doesn't matter.. I believe in my heart of hearts, that a great man walked this earth.. I believe that through his works and actions, he set examples for mankind, that we could all emulate for peace on earth and goodwill towards man.. During this season of our holidays.. these thoughts run through my mind.. Jesus spent his time on this earth with us and he represented the highest of our principles and standards. His brief time with us was a lesson in what we should all carry with us every day and in every place that we go.. One of those very important lessons is that we should love and respect all men, as he did. Sometimes we fail in that.. Sometimes, it seems that our Christmas has become a commercial event.. The stores plan their advertising to entice us to remember the commercialism.. The celebration for the birthday of a great man is forgotten . I'd not like to impose my feelings on another.. these are only the random thoughts of a man, not qualified to debate religious issues, but my thoughts have sustained me for many years . Right, wrong, or indifferent.. I believe that Jesus did live amongst us for a time .. Happy birthday, Jesus.. and, Merry Christmas to you all.. Regards Bill Walker Irving
