Well yes, after 100km of ducting, digging and cable pulling we rather
had the hang of it. With the right contractor and the right equipment
it isn't quite so scary and the road doesn't collapse behind you.

If the UK had any sense every time a road was built or repaired a
substantial service duct would be created obviating the need for any
fucking digging other than tail ends.

If the UK had any sense, that shit would all go under the pavement, not
the road, to reduce the impact when things inevitably need digging up.

I remember when they'd sting you 30k for an E1. Then Globix came along
    and shat on the market.

    Is it, though?

I know of one place with a 2Mb 5:1 SDSL for £400/mo - so the little extra
to 2Mb uncontended is relatively decent - and the increments up to 10
then 30 are civilised, considering what you get.

Yeah, it's not quite what they promised on Tomorrow's World in 1973.

Still, as soon as someone does JetLev hire, I'm definitely up for
    having a go on one!

Well I've thoroughly enjoyed reading this thread. It's been like learning
another language I didn't want to learn :)
