    Wasn't me!

It's a bit of a pain, as we have to mentally adjust the website
name (to a replacement) as we try to monitor the experiment (in this case
the "experiment" is CMS, the LHC is the overall infrastructure that allows
CMS to operate). AFAIK, cmsmon was truly a monitoring site; it pulls up
data from the control computers, but by a secure channel that doesn't
allow commands to be executed. So, they defaced our display ads, but they
didn't get to control how Kylie models our products...

I see there's been a bit of a quench tonight. Bummer. Still, omelettes,
    eggs, etc.

  4. Bit more than that, a connecting lead between two magnets melted.
Whether that was a cause of the quench or a consequence is unclear. I
heard we lost a tonne of LHe. Safety and rescue are overstretched so
we've shut the detectors down for the weekend. My midnight-to-dawn shift
was cancelled so that makes my record out of four so far -- two done, one
returned to CERN immediately, one cancelled.

It will take two months to warm the sector, make repairs (two days)
and cool down to 1.9 K again. No Higgs this year...
