I'm sure someone will know this, I want to put some more memory in my
    Dell D600, currently it has 2x256 PC2100 DDR. I want to fit 2x 1GB
DDR, the spec specifiesPC2700, can I use faster, eg PC6400?
I don't care about the speed,it's just it's about half the price of
    PC2700 memory.

    Thanks

You can prolly use any speed DDR but NOT DDR2 or DD3. Does plain DDR
come in flavours as fast as PC6400? If you're using Windows, have you
    tried the Crucial utility?

As others of said I think that PC6400 is DDR-2 so is incompatible. :-(

You might be best to keep an eye on eBay .. I've even picked up 1G (2
x 512M) PC 133 SDRAM quite cheap recently.

And don't forget yer old RAM will also go on eBay, off-setting the
    cost?

    All the best ..
