  1. I appear to have accidently hit a shortcut key which has activated
    annoying mode in excel.

Now - if I focus on a cell (click on a box), when I hit the [Enter]
key - the cell completes and the focus moves down to the next cell -
thats all fine and dandy and working as expected.

When I used the cursor keys up until around 10mins ago they used to
move the focus around the cells on the sheet - e.g. hitting the UP
button would select the cell above the current one.

Now when I use the cursor keys all they do is pan the whole sheet
around the open program - e.g. scroll up down left right without
    moving the Cell focus.

Does anyone have any idea what I've enabled or disabled ?

I've scoured the menus for a while now, but can't figure it out.

Its happening to all spreadsheets I now open - so I'm pretty damn sure
    its an Excel (feature) Option.

Scroll lock. Just press the scroll lock key and it'll stop.

I hear it may be a problem with the Scroll Lock being on.

You've obviously got very good sources. I'm surprised no-one bothered
to tell Brownz this might be the problem.

  11. Post corrected.

Seeing as I've never used the key in my 20 years of using computers,
and the only interaction I've had with said key has led to an hours
confusion, then I think I've made the right move of firing the fucking
thing through the window with an elastic band.

  14. I'll see your F11 and F12, and raise you a SysRq.

I'l have to fold - I threw SysRq out years ago along with AltGr and the
little hook thing with the backwards apostastrophe.

    Eh?
F11 is the shortcut to toggle full screen mode in Firefox (and IE). I
    find it quite useful.
F12 is the shortcut to preview a Web page in Dreamweaver.

But SysRq shares a key with PrtScrn, which is infinite in its usefulness and
AltGr is both the key to get accented letters in Windows (very useful when
web forums have swear filters that won't let you say fúck or cúnt) and it
used with the little hooky thing to get the pipe symbol in DOS ... ¦ ...
without which one can not use the MORE or FIND commands.

    Don't you people ever RTFM?

Eh? Pipe is between the Z and left shift keys. The useful symbol on the
hooky key is the backtick, crucial for capturing the output of a shell
    command.
